Severe flooding has impacted multiple areas including Nanning and Guigang in Guangxi, following persistent heavy rainfall brought by Typhoon Maysak. The emergency response level was escalated to the highest tier on July 6th due to a critical situation at the Liulan Reservoir in Hengzhou, Nanning City.
In response to the disaster, social forces have rapidly mobilized. Numerous companies and public welfare organizations have immediately activated emergency response mechanisms, providing support to the affected areas through financial donations, material contributions, and the opening of resources, striving to ensure the basic livelihood of affected residents and support post-disaster recovery.
Regarding financial assistance, several enterprises have made generous contributions to provide a solid foundation for reconstruction efforts.
Nongfu Spring announced a cash donation of 10 million yuan, specifically allocated for home reconstruction and agricultural recovery in the Guangxi disaster zone. Mixue Group also donated 10 million yuan to support flood control, disaster relief, and industrial recovery. ANTA SPORTS, in collaboration with the China Charity Federation, dispatched emergency supplies valued at 10 million yuan. Jasmine Milk Tea donated 1 million yuan in special funds, directed towards emergency assistance for residents and post-disaster farmland restoration in Hengzhou and surrounding areas. BOSS Zhipin donated 500,000 yuan through the Nanning Charity Federation to support flood relief efforts in Hengzhou City and Binyang County, as well as aid for people in difficulty.
For material support and logistics, major companies have leveraged their supply chain and network advantages to precisely meet the needs of the disaster area.
JD.com utilized its local warehousing to donate nearly 20,000 essential items including instant noodles, drinking water, and raincoats, which were rapidly transported to the front lines via dedicated JD Logistics vehicles and personnel. NetEase urgently allocated the first batch of 25,000 emergency supplies, including disinfectant and hygiene products, folding beds, and summer quilts, to the disaster zone. The Tencent Foundation coordinated the delivery of 28,500 emergency meals, 2,000 disaster relief kits, and over a thousand sets of supplies for displaced children.
Liu Qiangdong, founder and chairman of the board of JD.com, has an internal company rule: whenever a disaster occurs anywhere in the country, managers of nearby JD warehouses are authorized to donate necessary supplies from their inventory without needing prior approval. Simultaneously, JD will promptly establish an emergency support team to ensure dedicated transportation for relief materials.
Furthermore, addressing needs for nighttime lighting and specific groups, Alibaba donated an initial 10,000 emergency lighting devices. Bawang Chaji, partnering with the China Women's Development Foundation, deployed special relief supplies for women and children covering areas including Hengzhou, Baise, and Wuzhou. Luckin Coffee, in conjunction with the China Rural Development Foundation, donated generators, humanitarian relief kits, and hot meals. Yili Group urgently allocated nutritional supplies like milk to provide sustenance for affected residents and frontline rescue personnel. Bao Zhu Gong donated materials with a total value of 900,000 yuan, including 600,000 yuan in cash and 300,000 yuan worth of milk, for frontline rescue and regional recovery support. Chabaidao took swift action, collaborating with the New Tea Beverage Public Welfare Fund and the China Rural Development Foundation to fully support rescue efforts and help affected people overcome the difficulties as quickly as possible.
It is noteworthy that some companies not only provided conventional aid but also opened up core resources based on their industrial characteristics.
For example, Nongfu Spring fully opened its drinking water inventory in the Nanning area with no upper limit on allocations and made its newly built jasmine flower production facility in Hengzhou available as a temporary shelter for displaced residents. SF Group, besides donating hundreds of boxes of emergency supplies, urgently deployed two professional rescue drones to assist with disaster reconnaissance and material airdrops. Meituan provided 10,000 emergency food packages to shelters and allocated mobile charging equipment to help residents restore communication. JD.com leveraged its logistics network advantages, partnering with caring enterprises like McDonald's to assemble a batch of supplemental food including milk and purified water, offering timely livelihood security for affected communities.
Meanwhile, public welfare organizations and grassroots charitable institutions have played a crucial bridging role.
The China Charity Federation, together with Fujian Wanchen Group, urgently allocated an initial batch of over 4,000 items of essential supplies like bottled water and instant noodles. Hongxing Erke, in collaboration with the China Social Assistance Foundation, donated 8 million yuan worth of materials to the disaster area. The Nanning Charity Federation and the Hengzhou Charity Society continue to receive targeted donations from all sectors of society, ensuring that funds and materials are delivered precisely to those in need.
From substantial financial aid to meticulous material allocation, and the opening of infrastructure and specialized resources, the relief efforts from various sectors of society demonstrate formidable cohesion.
Currently, various disaster relief supplies are being transported to and distributed in an orderly manner within the affected areas, providing robust support for affected residents to overcome the crisis and for post-disaster reconstruction.
