In the semiconductor sector, SMIC saw a significant rise of 5.98%, reaching a new high of HKD 37.3 per share with a trading volume of nearly HKD 30 billion. The stock has been on an upward trend with continuous net buying from southbound funds for eight consecutive days, totaling HKD 58.09 billion.
In the banking sector, Bank of China rose by 1.85%, and China Merchants Bank surged by 3.26% after releasing its 2024 performance report, which showed a 0.5% decline in operating income but a 1.22% increase in net profit attributable to shareholders. CITIC Bank also saw a rise of 1.74%.
In the gaming sector, NetEase's stock increased by 4.03% due to the strong performance of its self-developed games "Marvel Duel" and "Yan Yun Sixteen Sounds."
Zijin Mining experienced a decline of 5.85% as it plans to acquire shares in Zangge Mining, with the transaction valued between USD 2 billion and USD 2.2 billion. Zangge Mining's controlling shareholder is planning significant changes that may affect the company's control.
BeiGene rose by 2.96%, while WuXi AppTec fell by 3.51% after announcing expected growth in revenue, net profit, and adjusted net profit for 2024.
