Former US President Donald Trump stated on Friday that he is calling for a cap on credit card interest rates to be set at 10%, effective from January 20, for a duration of one year. "I, as President of the United States, call for a cap on credit card interest rates to be set at 10% for one year, starting January 20, 2026," Trump wrote on Truth Social, though he did not provide further details. "Please note, we will no longer allow the American people to be 'ripped off' by credit card companies," Trump added. "Coincidentally, January 20 coincides with the one-year anniversary of the Trump administration, a period of historic and highly successful governance."
