According to media reports citing informed sources, Meta Platforms, Inc. has postponed its plans to release the API for its new Muse Spark AI model to developers on multiple occasions. As of Tuesday, there was still no confirmed release date for this API.
A spokesperson for Meta stated on Wednesday that the company has begun testing the API with some early partners and looks forward to releasing it this month.
An API, or Application Programming Interface, is a software intermediary that defines how two software systems interact.
In a post on platform X in April, Meta's Head of AI, Alexandr Wang, announced that "the muse spark API is coming soon."
Meta launched Muse Spark in April as its first model built to narrow the gap with competitors. Muse Spark is the first in a new series of models created by the company's Superintelligence Labs.
Earlier on Wednesday, Meta released an AI agent designed to assist businesses with daily operations, hinting at the company's ambition to compete with rivals such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Alphabet's Google.
