Microsoft Corporation has extended voluntary retirement offers to several thousand employees based in the United States.
According to a source familiar with the matter, approximately 7% of the company's U.S. workforce will be eligible for the buyout package. The source also indicated that Microsoft has never before implemented a buyout program on this scale.
