Crypto Stocks See Renewed Interest from Short Sellers in November
Short interest in crypto stocks increased overall in the month of November, with only two stocks witnessing declines.
CleanSpark saw the highest jump in short interest in the month to 32.75% from 19.89% the previous month. Strategy saw the second-highest jump in SI to 11.61% from 9.74% in October.
Short interest in Coinbase Global, MARA Holdings, HIVE Digital Technologies, and Core Scientific increased to 7.57%, 27.5%, 6.11% and 20.16%, respectively.
Riot Platforms and Bitfarms were the only companies that saw a fall in short interest to 13.69% and 14.57%, respectively.
Bitmine Suspected of Major Ethereum Purchase
According to TechFlow, on December 17, blockchain analysis platform Lookonchain reported that Bitmine is suspected to have acquired 48,049 ETH approximately five hours ago. This transaction is valued at around $140.58 million. The purchase was detected through monitoring activities on the platform.
Cathie Wood Buys the Dip: Ark Invest Loads up on Bitmine, CoreWeave
Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest made a series of notable buys on Monday, increasing its exposure to crypto- and AI-linked names.
The firm purchased 550,404 shares of Bitmine Immersion across its (ARKK), (ARKW), and (ARKF) ETFs, taking advantage of the stock’s 11.2% drop to $30.95 on Monday.
ARK also added 64,946 shares of Coinbase (COIN), 143,579 shares of Circle Internet Group (CRCL), 92,845 shares of Block (XYZ), and 122,360 shares of Bullish (BLSH)—all of which fell on Monday.
In addition, Ark Invest acquired more than 136K shares of CoreWeave (CRWV), an AI-focused cloud computing firm that has been hit hard in the recent AI infrastructure selloff. CoreWeave shares slid another 8% on Monday after an 11% decline last week and are now down more than 60% from their June peak.

Trump to Interview Waller for Potential Federal Reserve Chair Role
U.S. President Donald Trump is set to interview current Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller on Wednesday to assess his potential as the next Federal Reserve Chair, succeeding Jerome Powell. On the prediction market Polymarket, Waller's chances of being nominated by Trump have risen to 15%. Meanwhile, the probability of Kevin Warsh being nominated has decreased to 27%, while Kevin Hassett's chances have increased to 53%.
Bitcoin Spot ETF Flow
The overall net outflow of the US Bitcoin spot ETF on Tuesday was $277.09 million. The total net asset value of Bitcoin spot ETFs is $114.28 billion, and the ETF net asset ratio (market value compared to total Bitcoin market value) is 6.54%.
The Bitcoin spot ETF with the highest net outflow on Dec. 16 was iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, with a net outflow of $210.68 million. Followed by Bitwise Bitcoin ETF, with a net outflow of 50.93 million, according to SoSoValue.
