过去12个月，人工智能系统取得了快速进展，发展速度超过了监管步伐，因此引发了外界对潜在风险的审视，包括安全风险、网络安全威胁以及技术遭到滥用的可能性。
莱文在信中写道：“公司不应一味推进 IPO，而应集中精力应对这些前所未有的风险。”
Anthropic 自身的研究也强调了自主性日益增强的人工智能模型所带来的风险。在受控测试中，这些模型已经展现出可能造成危害的能力，包括蓄意破坏代码、协助实施欺诈以及操纵信息。
据媒体报道，Anthropic 目前预计将于11月进行 IPO，目标估值超过2万亿美元。其最接近的竞争对手、ChatGPT 的开发商 OpenAI，则预计将于2027年上市。
本周早些时候，在一次 IPO 前投资者会议上，Anthropic 告知潜在投资者，公司第三季度营收较上一季度增长45%，达到近170亿美元。
