CEOs of Apple, Microsoft, Amazon to meet with Biden over cybersecurity: report

Dow Jones2021-08-24

The leaders of some of the nation's largest companies will meet with President Joe Biden on Wednesday to discuss ways to improve cybersecurity, Bloomberg News reported late Monday.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) Chief Executive Tim Cook, Amazon.com Inc. (AMZN) CEO Andy Passy and Microsoft Corp. (MSFT) CEO Satya Nadella plan to attend the White House meeting, according to Bloomberg. The CEOs of Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL)(GOOGL), IBM Corp., JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Southern Co have also reportedly been invited.

The chief topic is said to be improving security in both the private and government sectors, following a spate of damaging hacks and ransomware attacks in recent months.

The meeting comes as some of those companies -- namely Apple -- find themselves in the cross-hairs of federal antitrust investigations.
