1846 ET [Dow Jones]--CFRA Research analyst Angelo Zino says in a research note that he views Lip-Bu Tan's appointment as Intel's chief executive positively, citing Tan's strong industry background and previous familiarity with the company's operations. "His immediate challenges include deciding whether to maintain (Intel's) integrated structure or pursue a break-up strategy," he writes. Ultimately, the company's success depends on whether it can develop competitive products in the AI-driven data center market, defend its PC market share and address its falling stock price, Zino says. "Dialogue with the U.S. government on foundry funding will also be critical." Shares rise 11%. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
