0939 GMT - Intel's appointment of Lip-Bu Tan as its new chief executive is a positive development as decisions on semiconductor manufacturing can now be made fairly soon, JPMorgan analysts write in a research note. "In our conversations with clients, the recent lack of direction at Intel has been an important reason for the market's caution on semiconductor equipment suppliers," they say. While decisions at Intel may take a few months to be announced, the analysts note Tan was on Intel's board until the summer of 2024 and is aware of the issues the chip maker faces. Intel shares are up 10% premarket at $22.74. (mauro.orru@wsj.com)
