Trump sounded an optimistic note about U.S-China talks scheduled for this weekend in Switzerland. Trump said he could possibly talk with China's Xi Jinping following weekend talks in Switzerland. "We're gonna have a good weekend with China," Trump said.

If talks with China go well, Trump suggested the tariffs could come down. "We're going to see. Right now you can't get any higher. It's at 145% so we know it's coming down," Trump said.

Trump alluded to diplomatic gamesmanship over who reached out first. "Who made the first call, who didn't ... doesn't matter," Trump said. "Only matters what happens in that room."
