Industrials Advance as Tariff Fears, Inflation Risks Subside - Industrials Roundup

Dow Jones05-12

Shares of industrial and transportation companies surged as fears about the implications of tariffs for wholesale costs subsided.

"The 90-day reprieve with China, following last week's deal with the U.K. is certainly giving investors hope that some of the more draconian tariff levels might come down to more palatable levels," said J.D. Joyce, president of Houston financial advisory Joyce Wealth Management.

China and the U.S. unwound for now most of the tariffs they had imposed on each other since April, with the U.S. reducing duties on Chinese goods to 30% during a 90-day trade war cease-fire.

Chinese battery giant Contemporary Amperex Technology is planning to raise as much as $4 billion in the year's biggest listing in Hong Kong, looking to tap the market to fund its expansion overseas.
