Lebanon ordered the Iranian ambassador to leave the country by Sunday, declaring him persona non grata, Lebanon's minister of foreign affairs said.

The move comes as officials in Lebanon have stepped up their rhetoric against Hezbollah and its patron, Iran, something that for years was considered politically dangerous. The government earlier this month passed a measure banning the group's military activities. Two Hezbollah members are set to stand before a military judge Tuesday for allegedly transporting weapons for the group, according to a Lebanese official.
