President Trump said Iran wants to make a deal badly and pushed back on Tehran's assertion that it isn't in talks with the U.S., according to Fox Business's Maria Bartiromo, who said she spoke to Trump on Monday morning.

Trump told Bartiromo that a U.S. delegation, including his special envoy Steve Witkoff and son-in-law Jared Kushner, had held talks with Iranian officials Sunday night. Earlier Monday, Trump said the U.S. would postpone attacks on Iran's energy infrastructure for five days after what he described as productive conversations with Tehran about resolving the war. Iran's Foreign Ministry soon after denied that the Islamic Republic was in talks with the U.S., according to the country's state media.

Trump told Fox Business he didn't know what Iranian state media was talking about, but expressed hope that a deal with Iran could come before the end of the five-day extension of his deadline to begin energy infrastructure strikes if Iran doesn't open up the Strait of Hormuz.
