Iran, Egypt Ministers Hold Call Amid Diplomatic Efforts to End War -- WSJ

Iran said its foreign minister, Abbas Araghchi, held a phone call with his Egyptian counterpart Badr Abdelatty to discuss the war and Arab efforts to reduce tensions. Over the past week, Abdelatty has worked with foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Turkey and Pakistan on a diplomatic initiative to wind down the war.

Backchannel diplomacy between Iran and America's Arab allies was in part responsible for President Trump's decision on Monday to focus on diplomacy and put on hold threatened strikes on Iranian energy infrastructure, The Wall Street Journal reported.
