U.S. Natural Gas Loses Ground As Oil Prices Drop -- Market Talk

Dow Jones03-24

1514 ET - U.S. natural gas futures fall below $3 per million British thermal units with a drop in oil prices removing some war premium and warming spring weather reducing heating demand. The main offset to loss of heating demand is LNG feedgas flows above 20 Bcf/d, Gelber & Associates says in a note. But "a warmer national pattern is cutting residential and commercial demand faster than exports are tightening the market, and the rebound in production is reinforcing that shift." Rallies are likely to struggle barring a colder shift in weather forecasts or materially higher export demand, the firm adds. Nymex gas for April delivery settles down 6.6% at $2.891/mmBtu.(anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
