Michael Waltz, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said Sunday it is significant that Iran has shown it has the ability to send longer-range ballistic missiles that have the ability to hit much of Europe.

Waltz, appearing on Fox News, said Iran has hidden some of the development of a re-entry capability of this type of missile in a so-called "space program," adding, "I don't think that anyone expects to see Iranians on the moon."

"All you have to do is marry up the two with a nuclear warhead," he said. "Thank God President Trump isn't waiting until that happens and then trying to respond. He's taking care of the issue now."

Waltz also reiterated that President Trump will destroy one of Iran's largest power plants if the Strait of Hormuz isn't reopened within 48 hours of the president's Saturday evening post, saying that Trump "is not messing around and stands by his "red lines."

"He won't allow this genocidal regime to hold the world's energy supplies hostage," Waltz said.
