Danone agreed to acquire nutrition company Huel for around $1.2 billion, as the French food company seeks to ramp up its presence in the wellness segment.

Danone is paying around 1 billion euros ($1.16 billion) to buy Huel, according to a person familiar with the deal.

The maker of Activia yogurt and Evian water said Monday that it entered into a definitive agreement to buy Huel, subject to closing conditions.

The move boosts Danone's presence in functional nutrition with Huel's ready-to-drink beverages and powders, it said. Huel's digital execution, direct-to-consumer sales platform and popularity in the U.S., Europe and U.K. are drivers of its appeal, Danone said.

Huel's revenue for the full 2025 year is expected to be over 250 million pounds ($333.5 million), the person said. For 2025, its earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization margin is expected to be around 10%, according to the person.
