U.S. Futures Mixed, European Stocks Edge Up

U.S. futures for the S&P 500 were flat and futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.1%. Changes in futures do not necessarily predict movements after the opening bell.

In Europe, the Stoxx Europe 600 gained 0.4% in morning trading. Puig Brands climbed 14.2% and Straumann Holding rose 4.7%. On the other hand, EXOR sunk 6%, and Bellway lost 4.8%. The FTSE 100 added 0.4%. Other stocks in Europe were up as France's CAC 40 increased 0.5% and Germany's DAX rose 0.2%.

The Wall Street Journal Dollar Index rose 0.2% to 96.19.

In commodities, Brent crude climbed 1.6% to $101.50 a barrel, and WTI crude rose 2% to $89.90 a barrel. The European benchmark price for natural gas, the Dutch futures contract TTF, was down 0.8% to 56.25 euros a megawatt hour.

The German 10-year Bund yield held steady at 3.009%, and the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury rose by 1 basis point to 4.362% from 4.351%. Bond prices and yields move in opposite directions.

Stocks in Asia were up as Japan's Nikkei 225 index gained 1.4%, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 2.8%. China's benchmark Shanghai Composite gained 1.8%.
