HSBC Holdings has appointed Jack Yang as the new chief financial officer for Asia and the Middle East, the latest leadership change as Chief Executive Georges Elhedery continues to overhaul the bank's structure.
An HSBC spokesperson confirmed the appointment, which remains subject to regulatory approval.
Yang joined HSBC in 2009 and was most recently the bank's treasurer for Asia and the Middle East. He also served at HSBC's international wealth and premier banking business.
The move comes as Europe's biggest bank by assets has been undergoing a broad organizational revamp under Elhedery, who took over in the fall of 2024. Since then, he has set about cutting costs, streamlining its businesses and accelerating a pivot to Asia, where the lender makes most of its profit, pushing for HSBC to become a more "simple, more agile, focused bank."
