Communications-services fell amid anxiety about the outlook for consumer spending, in light of the energy shock.

Chinese smartphone and electronics maker Xiaomi reported a slump in quarterly net profit, caught between soaring memory-chip prices and subdued consumption in China.

S4 Capital shares rose after advertising industry veteran and former WPP Group head Martin Sorrell said his firm was leaning on artificial intelligence, and seeing signs the new technology was gaining traction in the ad business.
