IHH Healthcare's (SGX: Q0F, KLSE:IHH) group chief executive officer, Prem Kumar Nair, said Singapore remains a premier regional hub for advanced medical procedures despite the ongoing geo-political issues, according to an interview with the Business Times on Monday.
With the Indonesian rupiah weakening against the Singapore dollar, Nair said affordability is becoming a major hurdle for patients travelling to Singapore, which is driving price-sensitive patients toward Malaysia, the report said.
In addition, the group's operations in India and Turkey are also feeling the strain, Nair told The Business Times.
However, Nair expects this to be "near-term" pressure and does not expect a structural decline in demand, according to the report.
