L3Harris Names New Missile Company Ahead of Planned Spinoff -- Market Talk

Dow Jones04-30 23:07

1107 ET - L3Harris Technologies is spinning off its missile-solutions business, confidentially submitting a draft registration statement with the SEC. The new missile company will be named AXYV, CEO Chris Kubasik says on a call with analysts. "The AXYV name is inspired by the engineering of missile guidance and positioning," he says: "The A for axes of X and Y, and the V for the velocity of the missile trajectory." L3Harris in January unveiled plans to spin off the missile segment into a separate publicly traded company, backed by a $1 billion minority investment from the Pentagon that closed last week. L3Harris will retain a controlling interest in its missile business, which will focus on making rocket parts for the U.S. and its allies, including those for Patriot, Thaad and Tomahawk missiles, following the spinoff.
