Eli Lilly said European regulators have issued a positive opinion recommending Jaypirca as a treatment for chronic lymphocytic leukemia across all lines of therapy.

The European Medicines Agency's human medicines committee put out its recommendation based on strong efficacy and tolerability data from Phase 3 clinical trials that evaluated the medication in treatment-naive settings.

Results showed the drug can make a meaningful difference for people living with chronic lymphocytic leukemia, researchers said.

The European Commission is expected to make a final marketing authorization decision in the next one to two months.

Eli Lilly has submitted these trail results to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and expects an approval decision there in the second half of the year.
