Healthcare stocks were higher late Friday afternoon, with the NYSE Healthcare Index rising 2.2% and the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) adding 2.5%.
The iShares Biotechnology ETF (IBB) climbed 1%.
In corporate news, Eli Lilly (LLY) said Friday that the European Medicines Agency's Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use has issued a positive opinion for Jaypirca to treat adults with chronic lymphocytic leukemia across all lines of therapy. Lilly shares gained 7.2%.
