MT Newswires Live07-06 16:03

Alibaba (BABA) and ByteDance are removing software features that allow users to build and chat with AI companions in anticipation of new Chinese rules on human interactions with AI, Bloomberg reported Monday.

Alibaba's Qwen and ByteDance's Doubao have told users that the features allowing them to create their own AI personalities to interact with are being shut down by July 15, in accordance with new regulations prohibiting content that elicits extreme emotions in minors or emotional dependencies, the report said.

Alibaba and ByteDance did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' request for comment.
