Singapore Shares Open Higher on Tech Optimism

MT Newswires07-07 10:30

Singapore shares opened higher on Tuesday, building on the previous session's gains as a technology-driven rally on Wall Street boosted investor sentiment across regional markets.

The STI, a key benchmark for the Singapore Exchange, rose marginally in early trade by 0.04%, or 2.079 points, to open at 5,261.890.

Investor sentiment was supported by an overnight rally in U.S. stocks, where gains in AI-related stocks pushed the S&P 500 up 0.72%, led the Nasdaq Composite to add 1.12%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average to increase 0.29%.

Investors are now looking forward to the release of the US Federal Reserve's latest meeting minutes on Wednesday for fresh hints on the interest rate outlook. The Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) next meeting will take place on July 28-29.
