芝加哥联储主席奥斯坦·古尔斯比（Austan Goolsbee）周五接受采访时表示，他认同美联储主席凯文·沃什在杰克逊霍尔年会演讲中的观点，通胀应当成为货币政策制定者关注的首要问题。
“我认同主席提出的分析，即通胀一直高于目标水平，走势一度朝着错误的方向发展。过去几个月，我们看到了一些更为温和的通胀数据，但这显然还不能让我们觉得已经走出困境。”
古尔斯比补充称，“通胀持续的时间比预期更长”。美联储官员目前正在努力判断，近期通胀率走高的趋势究竟只是暂时性的，还是由于经济过热而变得更加持久。
在被问及美联储联邦公开市场委员会（FOMC）每年召开多少次会议时，他表示，自己对此没有强烈的倾向。
同时古尔斯比称，不认为美联储与美国财政部之间存在政策目标冲突。
