President Donald Trump posted on X on October 8, criticizing Democratic candidate Mohammed El-Sayed as a "terrible candidate," labeling him a "RADICAL Extremist, Terrorist Sympathizer," and endorsing his opponent Mike Rogers.
Trump wrote: "Mohammed El-Sayed is a terrible Candidate for the Dumocrats. While his opponent, Mike Rogers, is an extremely good one." He claimed El-Sayed "goes back to the days of the Jihad" and is "no different from his best friend, America Hating Hasan Piker." The president questioned El-Sayed's values, saying they are "not exactly those of Michiganders, or those of our Great United States of America" and concluding "He is WRONG for Michigan, and WRONG for America."
Trump urged voters to back Rogers: "VOTE FOR MIKE ROGERS — HE HAS MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT, AND WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!" The post was signed "President DONALD J. TRUMP." Campaigns for both candidates have not yet responded.
