On October 11, President Donald Trump posted on X alleging that former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper released 83 murderers from state facilities and announcing his endorsement of Michael Whatley for the U.S. Senate.

Trump claimed that 51 of the 83 prisoners were serving life sentences and that some went on to commit 25 murders “immediately” after release. He said Cooper acted because he “didn’t want them to catch COVID while in prison.” Trump also named Repeat Violent Offender DeCarlos Brown, Jr. and victim Iryna Zarutska, asserting the killing was captured on security footage. He compared Cooper’s actions to former Massachusetts Governor Michael Dukakis’s handling of the Willie Horton case, referencing the 1988 presidential election. Trump further praised Whatley as having led the Republican Party of North Carolina and then the United States Republican Party.

“I have just learned that Roy Cooper, the Radical Left Former Governor of North Carolina, let out 83 murderers from prisons and penitentiaries around the State, with 51 of these prisoners serving life sentences.”(我刚刚得知,北卡罗来纳州的激进左翼前州长罗伊·库珀,让全州监狱和教养所中83名杀人犯获释,其中51人正服无期徒刑。)

“HE HAS MY COMPLETE AND TOTAL ENDORSEMENT FOR THE UNITED STATES SENATE, AND WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”(他获得我对美国参议院席位“完全且彻底”的背书,绝不会让你们失望!)
