On October 8, U.S. President Donald Trump took to X to push back against what he called "Fake and Artificial News," denying claims that he had invited enemies to bomb San Diego and Los Angeles. He said he was merely making a comparison: a temporary increase in gasoline prices is a small price to pay for preventing Iran from having a nuclear weapon, while the bombing of major U.S. cities would be a far greater cost.

"The Fake and Artificial News is out there trying to say that I’m inviting the enemy to bomb San Diego and Los Angeles when, in actuality, what I was talking about was that a temporary increase in the price of Gasoline is a small price to pay for Iran not having a Nuclear Weapon," Trump wrote. He added that if enemies bombed those cities, the price would be unimaginably high. Trump stressed that everyone understood his point, including the fake news outlets, but they continued to distort his words.

Trump labeled those media "Degenerates" who think they can "continuously get away with Fake News!" The president has previously voiced strong opposition to Iran's nuclear program, warning of severe consequences.
