U.S. President Donald Trump on October 9 criticized the Nobel Peace Prize committee on social media platform X, saying it “shamed itself beyond repair and demeaned the once great Nobel Peace Prize” by awarding the prize to UN’s Navi Pillay.
Trump said Pillay is “an unabashed hater of America and Israel,” and that she “celebrated terrorists and rewarded Hamas” and conducted a phony “investigation” claiming to find that Israel committed genocide and urging prosecution. “She has no credibility in any normal sphere and has never done a thing to foster peace. Just the opposite,” Trump wrote. He also questioned the committee for previously awarding the prize to Yasser Arafat.
Trump then listed his own achievements, including the Abraham Accords, bringing home hostages, efforts to end the Russia/Ukraine war, stopping Iran, and rebuilding Gaza, saying such actions are what the Nobel Peace Prize was intended to recognize and reward.
