President Trump criticized the Nobel Committee on Oct. 9 for awarding the Peace Prize to UN human rights chief Navi Pillay, stating that the committee "shamed itself beyond repair and demeaned the once great Nobel Peace Prize."
Trump described Pillay as "an unabashed hater of America and Israel" who "celebrated terrorists and rewarded Hamas" and conducted a "phony 'investigation'" claiming Israel committed genocide. He also noted the committee previously gave the prize to Yasser Arafat.
Trump listed his own achievements, including the Abraham Accords — which he said the world called impossible and now expanding — bringing home hostages, efforts to end the Russia/Ukraine war, stopping Iran, and rebuilding Gaza despite terrorist efforts. He argued these are the kinds of efforts the Nobel Peace Prize "was intended to recognize and reward."
