US equity indexes fell this week after quarterly results from Magnificent-7 stocks disappointed investors, wiping away gains from Anthropic's initial public offering announcement and a monetary policy pause.

* The S&P 500 closed at 7,580.07 on Friday, versus 7,623.68 a week ago. The Nasdaq Composite stood at about 25,436.99, compared with 25,955.24 a week earlier. The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended at 51,770.31, relative to 52,215.16 last week.

* Communication services and technology led decliners while healthcare and utilities led the gainers.

* Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Q3 earnings unexpectedly slid from a year ago, and sales lagged as more people using artificial-intelligence-led summaries hit Google search revenue. Intel (INTC) Q3 revenue fell short of analyst estimates, and its Q4 outlook also missed market expectations.

* Amazon.com (AMZN) reported an unexpected drop in Q3 earnings and a $42.4 billion negative free cash flow over the last 12 months following investments in artificial intelligence infrastructure. Microsoft (MSFT) posted fiscal Q1 adjusted earnings and revenue that beat market expectations.

* Anthropic filed with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday for an initial public offering of Class A common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the symbol "ANT."

* The Federal Reserve maintained interest rates at 3.75% to 4.00%, saying it would like more information before making a change. The core personal consumption expenditures price index grew in line with expectations in September. US gross domestic product rose by more than forecast in Q3 -- final estimate is due Nov. 25.

* Iran said four tankers struck mines in the Strait of Hormuz and Yemen's Houthis claimed missile strikes on Saudi Arabia, escalating pressure on two fronts as the US reportedly weighs renewed military action against Tehran after Tuesday's midterm elections, CNBC reported. Brent crude oil futures jumped 2.6% to $117.85 late Friday.
