HODL the actual asset
Cryptocurrency is fast becoming an accepted alternative investment go to. Bitcoin, the one that started the cryptocurrency movement is viewd as a storage of value much akin to gold with some even calling it digital gold.
Despite them looking very likely to stay, there are still many sceptics when it comes to cryptocurrency especially from the old guards of the economy.
Personally, I believe cryptocurrency can be regarded as an alternative investment as a means to diversify rather than being the bulk asset itself. As such, I place a maximum limit of 10% of total assets for anything involving cryptocurrencies which includes altcoins.
As to holding either the asset itself direct or invest in miners or ETFs, I believe the nature of the asset itself as a diversifier as well as a means of 'decentralizing' assets, it defeats the purpose if we were to indirectly invest in miners or ETFs as that will mean your assets will be in the hands of these 'institutions'.
As such, I would prefer to invest direct in the asset itself be it bitcoin or ether or the likes. My personal preferences are Bitcoin, Ether and Chainlink which I believe has tremendous potential going forward.
