Selling a QQQ 0DTE Cash-Secured Put: A Calm “Rent Collection” Move on a Volatile Day

In the options market, not every trader goes for explosive upside—some prefer to sell into fear. One trader recently executed a 0DTE Cash-Secured Put (CSP) strategy on $Invesco QQQ(QQQ)$ , and it’s a great example of timing, structure, and market awareness:

🎉 Huge congrats to @mster for locking in 98.47% and 97.62% profits with $Invesco QQQ(QQQ)$ 0dte options.

He shared:

$QQQ 20250414 445.0 PUT

Sold some 0DTE  CSPut on QQQ. The share price was holding well for the first 2 hr. Thought it might not come down to 456 to fill the day gap, but, it did. went in with more position then. As expecting it to rebound after the day gap filled, and, it did. 😅🤞.

What made this trade stand out?

🔹 Support + Market Rhythm
The key was identifying the 456 gap support. The price eventually pulled back to fill the gap, then bounced—validating the setup.

🔹 Selling Out-of-the-Money Puts for Premium
By selling the 445 PUT, the trader collected premium while positioning to potentially buy QQQ lower—bullish mindset, just with more patience.

🔹 Scaling In, Not Going All-In
Instead of committing upfront, the trader scaled in after price action confirmed support. Smart position sizing meets timing.

What’s a Cash-Secured Put (CSP)?

Simply put, it’s like setting a “smart limit buy” on a stock or ETF—but getting paid while you wait.

📌 If the price drops below the strike, you’re assigned and end up buying the stock—at a discount.
📌 If the price stays above the strike, you keep your cash and the premium.

Kind of like collecting rent while waiting to buy a dip, right? 😉

A steady hand in a fast market

This QQQ trade wasn’t about chasing a moonshot—it was about making the most of volatility with a level head. Selling a 0DTE out-of-the-money put at a strong support level? That’s a tactical way to earn from fear-driven moves without being reckless.

There is no mention of the buying power required on holding each position, so not helpful for traders trying to get into 0 DTEs. 98% is misleading as it’s not a return on risked capital. Merely % of premiums realised.

Me either! This is wild. I’m not confident enough to try 0DTE yet, but definitely saving this as a case study!
