A strong and stable democracy country should have sufficient opposition numbers in parliament to have check and balance in place. It is essential as the government cannot be checking on itself entirely for implementing new policies or debating national issues, etc. It is similar to having a independent audit to ensure that right prudence and responsibilities, etc. are in placed with interest of the majority citizens in priority. Hence, it is paramount to ensure that a strong opposition presence is in. In fact if you look at UK, opposition party could winning the election if it is competent enough. So it is nothing surprising in the current world context. And UK is doing very well as a very strong country. Moreover, understand that SG has only 10 opposition MP which is low % in fact. Nevertheless we should vote for candidates whom we think they can represent our views in parliament. Especially if they are competent, humble, factual, etc. regardless of which party. Cheers.
