UN Secretary-General Warns of Escalating Middle East Crisis, Urges De-escalation
Early this morning, Trump launched a strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities and issued a stern warning against retaliation.
However, the Iranian government is not backing down, stating that nearby U.S. military installations could become targets.
Following U.S. airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear sites—Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan—on Saturday, June 21, 2025, major U.S. cities, including New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, have been placed on high alert. Authorities in New York and Washington have heightened security at religious, cultural, and diplomatic sites, with the NYPD and Metropolitan Police Department deploying additional resources and coordinating with federal partners. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced increased LAPD patrols near places of worship and community spaces, emphasizing vigilance despite no known credible threats. The airstrikes, described by President Donald Trump as a "spectacular military success," have escalated tensions, prompting concerns about potential Iranian retaliation
The United Nations Secretary-General expressed shock over the U.S. attack on Iran, warning that it could trigger a disaster — not just in the Middle East, but globally.
The most immediate risk now is an Iranian counterattack.
If Iran directly strikes U.S. military bases, it could spark another wave of retaliation from the U.S.
While tensions are high, it’s still uncertain whether Iran will act.
If Iran moves to temporarily block the Strait of Hormuz, it could cause major turmoil in global financial markets.
Delaying confrontation to gain strategic advantage is also a possible move.
In such a scenario:
🛢️ Oil prices and Natural gas would be the first to surge
📈 Gold would likely benefit
📉 U.S. stocks and bonds? That depends on how things unfold
