Palo Alto is clearly positioning for what the next wave of cybersecurity actually looks like: securing not just users and passwords, but every AI agent, every machine credential, every autonomous workflow that lives inside the enterprise stack.

CyberArk gives them that control layer.

Now, has the market punished them for it? Absolutely. Palo Alto has shed over $15B in value since the rumor broke -- more than half the value of the deal itself. That’s wild. But that also tells me this might be the exact kind of misunderstood bet that ends up aging well.

Because if you believe AI is going to reshape how companies operate (which I do) -- and that every agent, every API, every LLM query needs to be verified, secured, and audited -- then this is the right acquisition at the right time.
