Earnings season is wrapping up—so how did you do this round?
How many hurdles did you clear, and how many times did you guess the wrong direction?
Investors shared their experience: a carefully planned strategy, but the market moved the opposite way. They bought $Coinbase Global, Inc.(COIN)$ calls, only to see the stock plunge 17% in a single day. They bought $Apple(AAPL)$ puts, but Apple’s post-earnings strength helped keep the market hovering near highs.
At the end of the day, earnings season often feels like a gamble—some people clear the level, others take losses.
It’s not just in the US markets. In Singapore, we’ve seen a similar story:
$SIA(C6L.SI)$ and $Seatrium Ltd(5E2.SI)$ both hit fresh highs before earnings, then plunged more than 5% on the release and kept sliding for three days.
$ST Engineering(S63.SI)$ fell four days in a row after results, but remains up 73% year-to-date.
So what about you?
Did you manage to ride the winners or did earnings trip you up?
Which trade was your biggest surprise this season?
And looking ahead—are you still willing to “bet” on earnings, or will you sit out the next round?

The biggest surprise for me was how some stocks with strong results still sold off sharply right after earnings, while others with weaker numbers managed to hold up. It showed me again that sentiment and positioning often matter more than just the fundamentals during this period. I treated a few of my trades as calculated risks, but I still felt the “gamble” aspect that comes with earnings plays.
I won’t stop trading earnings entirely, but I’ll size my positions smaller and focus on names where I have stronger conviction. To me, earnings season is still a chance to capture, but risk management has to come first.
