I've held $ParkwayLife Reit(C2PU.SI)$ for years now, nothing too exciting, fairly reliable. I agree with having some dividends, growth is nice but takes more time, energy and effort.

I do agree with the Buffett line for most parts. But once in a blue moon, I pop into roller coaster stocks to get a quick profit, I do think that is ill-disciplined of me, but it gives me some action (because I tend to go for companies with solid fundamentals and just stick with them for the long term).
