Meet the Speakers:
James Ooi,Chief Market Strategist at Tiger Brokers (Singapore)
Mr. James Ooi is currently with Tiger Brokers (Singapore) as the Chief Market Strategist. He has been in the financial industry since 2007 and possesses expertise from both buy and sell sides. He holds a Bachelor of Business degree with double majors in Finance and Marketing from the University of Technology Sydney.
He has been a regular market commentator for various media programmes, including Channel NewsAsia’s Asia Business First, Channel 8’s Money Week and Morning Express, Capital 95.8FM and 938Live Morning news programmes where he talks about current market trends. Mr. James Ooi also frequently conducts seminars, one which is more prominent would be the Market Outlook Seminar at Invest Fair 2015.
Lastly, be it seminars on market outlook or to educate the public, they are conducted with examples and case studies to actively engage the class and for participants to gain a deeper understanding on Fundamental and Technical Analysis. Investing requires discipline, passion and willingness to learn. Mr. James Ooi hopes to help participants to start their first step in their investment journey.
Sachin Patel, Executive Director, Metal Products, Asia Pacific at CME Group
Sachin Patel serves as Executive Director, Metal Products, Asia Pacific, for CME Group, based in Singapore. He is responsible for expanding CME Group’s metal business and developing new opportunities across the region.
Prior to joining CME Group in September 2017, Patel spent ten years in Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s Global Commodities division, where he covered numerous roles across trading, structuring, as well as sales in metals, exotic options and commodity index products. His most recent role was managing the commodity derivatives sales and structuring business for investor clients in Asia Pacific. Patel began his career at Bank of America Merrill Lynch in London in 2007 before relocating to Singapore in 2009 and has extensive experience working with clients across major Asia Pacific markets.
Patel holds a Master of Science degree in Finance and Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of Warwick.
Daniel Ang, CEO of Traders Academy International
From 1985 to 2006, Daniel Ang held senior positions in major international brokerages like Standard Chartered Futures, Man Financial and FIMAT in Singapore, dealing in financial futures, OTC precious metals and foreign exchange.
Post 2006, he has been active in the speaking circuit throughout Asia, conducting workshops through Traders Academy International which he founded in 2012. Aside from being an active trader, he is an author of a daily newsletter on global futures for a major securities firm in Malaysia.
Daniel is currently an executive director of a Singapore based proprietary trading firm, specializing in spread arbitrage.
Jeremy Tan, Investment Representative at Tiger Brokers (Singapore)
Jeremy Tan is a seasoned investor with over 25 years of experience across equities investment, futures trading, property development, and business growth. He has extensive experience managing portfolios, with a proven track record across both rising and declining markets
He brings strong expertise in Southeast Asian markets, with a focus on value investing and tactical trading, and has played a role in scaling businesses to S$10 million in revenue. A CFA charter holder, Jeremy is fluent in English, Mandarin, Hokkien, and Cantonese, and has been invited to speak at SGX derivatives workshops (Singapore and Taiwan).
Oh Wei Siong, Regional Financial Controller
Wei Siong is a finance and strategy professional with over a decade of experience spanning corporate finance, audit, valuation, and business partnering across multinational organizations. He currently heads the business partnering function in a leading renewable energy solutions company, overseeing investment developments within the region.
He brings extensive expertise in financial analysis, capital allocation and strategic decision-making, combining institutional finance experience with an investor’s perspective on markets, fundamentals, and value creation.
