Corning Draws $33M Bullish Call Bet

On Friday, $Corning(GLW)$   shares edged higher, but remained more than 15% below their all-time high of around $212 reached in May. Following a recent pullback across the AI infrastructure sector, market sentiment has cooled noticeably.

However, big money doesn't appear to be leaving.

Options flow data showed that a trader purchased 6,700 Corning September 18, 2026 $140 call options at approximately $50 per contract, representing a total premium outlay of roughly $33.5 million.

Notably, the contract had open interest of just 130 contracts prior to the trade, while daily volume surged to 6,700 contracts. The order was also flagged as Opening, Cross, and Bullish, suggesting it was very likely a new institutional position.

At the time of the transaction, Corning shares were trading around $178, making the $140 strike a deep in-the-money option. The structure looks more like a leveraged long-term bullish position than a short-term speculative bet.

From this trade, it appears institutions are viewing the recent pullback as a buying opportunity.

Over the past several weeks, concerns surrounding AI capital spending have intensified. Following Oracle's earnings report, investors began questioning when massive AI investments would translate into meaningful profit growth. Amazon recently secured an additional $17.5 billion loan facility to support AI expansion, while Meta has reportedly explored new financing options as well.

Yet the message from the tech giants remains clear: keep investing.

$Microsoft (MSFT.US)$ , $Amazon (AMZN.US)$ , $Alphabet-C (GOOG.US)$ , $Meta Platforms (META.US)$ , and $Oracle (ORCL.US)$ continue to accelerate AI data center construction and expand infrastructure spending. That suggests the AI infrastructure buildout is far from over.

For Corning, that matters.

From GPUs and switches to data center interconnects, AI infrastructure relies heavily on optical fiber and connectivity solutions. As AI clusters continue to scale, network traffic and interconnection demand are growing alongside compute demand, placing Corning at the center of this trend.
