$Intel(INTC)$ INTC's secure enclave just passed DOD approval for advanced chip manufacturing on 18A, and one outside company with significant DOD ties has contracted INTC — Fortinet as its first named corporate foundry customer for security chips. This is a pretty significant milestone that barely got any press coverage, especially considering Fortinet chips were previously fabbed by TSM. Moving that over to INTC is not nothing.

I'm still waiting for the mega companies to sign some large contracts, but that feels like a very short-sighted view at this stage. Right now INTC seems to need partners that understand its importance to the US and are willing to pay INTC's price, while moving away from foreign power subsidized companies. Those partners will likely be rewarded since their products will qualify for DOD purchases. NVDA currently sells to the US DOD as well, but I wouldn't be surprised if they get some time from DOD to comply with national security rules for chip sourcing.
