I will grant you, there are many problems AI creates, but the only way to control the problems is to speed up making controls. You're naive if you think China or any other country will slow down their development for the good of mankind. We learned how to build nuclear warheads well before we learned how to control who has them. We learned how to make industrial machines that took people's jobs away, well before we decided whose jobs they would be able to remove. Speed up and learn how to solve problems and controls rather than unrealistically trying to slow down the progress. Spend more time figuring out how to control the genie, rather than spending your time figuring out how to stuff it back into the bottle.
