New games were launched in recent months.

Shopee’s race to profitability has accelerated as shown in the material improvements in unit economics, and they are expected to be profitable by FY23.

SeaBank's credit business is growing strongly and its overall credit business is profitable and cash flow positive. Its revenue now makes up 10.4% of its overall revenue.

Execution has been on point in attaining profitability although that resulted in declining growth in FY22. Management believes growth can reaccelerate once it achieves profitability.

Sea Limited has sufficient cash reserves to pay off the convertible notes.

Investment Thesis

Sea Limited has come under much scrutiny in the past 2 years as the shift in focus from growth to profitability and macro headwinds have led to a massive growth decline across itsShopee and Garena units. While this is unfortunate, management has executed brilliantly so far to turn the company into an increasingly self-sufficient business in the near term.

In this article, I attempt to dive deeper into itsQ3 2022 resultand provide an overall analysis of the earnings. Although I’d like to highlight that the management has explicitly stated that growth can reaccelerate after attaining profitability and that they have a sufficient cash reserve to pay off the convertible notes sitting on the balance sheet.

Garena

SE 10-Q

SE 10-Q

Garena’s QAU and QPU continued to decline sequentially, as the management’s anticipation of its user base stabilizing did not materialize. The macro headwinds continue to be a headache, and it seems that there is more uncertainty lying ahead for Garena Free Fire. The key forward is to focus on launching new games, with games such asPrimitive EraandBlack Clover Mobilelaunching recently. While this indicates that management is working hard to reaccelerate Garena’s growth, it is important to recognize that the success of games is not guaranteed, and this is the bigger uncertainty for the business. As a result, this caused its adjusted EBITDA margin to further decline to 32.5% during the quarter.

Additionally, management states that the expiry of the agreement with Riot Games will have no impact on Garena’s publishing business, and Garena is seeking other top-game developers for their publishing business.

ShopeeSE 10-QSE 10-Q

Shopee’s GMV grew 14% Y/Y and the number of orders grew 18% Y/Y, a continuous decline in the past couple of quarters. This is a result of management pulling back on its sales and marketing (“S&M”) expenses, exiting multiple markets, cutting costs aggressively (such as hiring), and lastly, the lower consumer discretionary spending. This is in contrast to Lazada (NYSE: BABA), as the number oforders declined Y/Yand they are also prioritizing profitability through increased monetization.

While this does show that consumers continue to spend on Shopee in SEA, its GMV and number of orders are partially contributed by Shopee Brazil. In a tough macro environment, Shopee experienced a 36% Y/Y growth in the number of brands on the platform, indicating that Shopee is an increasingly important partner in growing its online revenue.SE 10-Q

The more important portion is Shopee’s improvement in profitability. Its overall adjusted EBITDA loss per order continues to improve by 23.5% sequentially, and more specifically, Shopee Brazil’s loss per order improved by 27.5% sequentially during the quarter as compared to 6.6% in the last quarter. Moreover, Shopee is expected to attain profitability by FY23 instead of FY25 as previously guided by the management. This goes to show that the management has made great strides in pursuing profitability, which is impressive in my view. Once it attained self-sufficiency, growth can reaccelerate, although, the management is expecting flat or negative growth in certain metrics in the near term.

SeaBank

Note that I will be using “SeaBank” and “SeaMoney” interchangeably.

SE 10-Q

SeaMoney’s loan receivables grew 46% from 4Q21 and 110% from 3Q21 to $2.2 billion. These are loans provided to customers whereby SeaMoney generates revenue by charging interest rates, and it has been growing quickly. In myprevious article, I showed that in Sep 2022, SeaBank Indonesia grew its loans and customer deposits by 111% Y/Y and 147% Y/Y, respectively, and the launch of ShopeePay in Brazil. Furthermore, the overall credit business is profitable and is generating positive cash flow, and has been increasingly making up a larger proportion of its total revenue. New games were launched in recent months.Shopee’s race to profitability has accelerated as shown in the material improvements in unit economics, and they are expected to be profitable by FY23.SeaBank's credit business is growing strongly and its overall credit business is profitable and cash flow positive. Its revenue now makes up 10.4% of its overall revenue.Execution has been on point in attaining profitability although that resulted in declining growth in FY22. Management believes growth can reaccelerate once it achieves profitability.Sea Limited has sufficient cash reserves to pay off the convertible notes.Investment ThesisSea Limited has come under much scrutiny in the past 2 years as the shift in focus from growth to profitability and macro headwinds have led to a massive growth decline across itsShopee and Garena units. While this is unfortunate, management has executed brilliantly so far to turn the company into an increasingly self-sufficient business in the near term.In this article, I attempt to dive deeper into itsQ3 2022 resultand provide an overall analysis of the earnings. Although I’d like to highlight that the management has explicitly stated that growth can reaccelerate after attaining profitability and that they have a sufficient cash reserve to pay off the convertible notes sitting on the balance sheet.GarenaSE 10-QSE 10-QGarena’s QAU and QPU continued to decline sequentially, as the management’s anticipation of its user base stabilizing did not materialize. As a result, this caused its adjusted EBITDA margin to further decline to 32.5% during the quarter.Additionally, management states that the expiry of the agreement with Riot Games will have no impact on Garena’s publishing business, and Garena is seeking other top-game developers for their publishing business.ShopeeSE 10-QSE 10-QShopee’s GMV grew 14% Y/Y and the number of orders grew 18% Y/Y, a continuous decline in the past couple of quarters. In a tough macro environment, Shopee experienced a 36% Y/Y growth in the number of brands on the platform, indicating that Shopee is an increasingly important partner in growing its online revenue.SE 10-QThe more important portion is Shopee’s improvement in profitability. Once it attained self-sufficiency, growth can reaccelerate, although, the management is expecting flat or negative growth in certain metrics in the near term.SeaBankNote that I will be using “SeaBank” and “SeaMoney” interchangeably.SE 10-QSeaMoney’s loan receivables grew 46% from 4Q21 and 110% from 3Q21 to $2.2 billion. During the earnings call, management stated that the credit business is profitable and cash flow positive, and it will be focusing on growing this business in Southeast Asia (“SEA”) and Brazil.Additionally, they have also said to diversify their source of funding for the credit business, which I believe is to seek third-party financing partners to reduce the capital required for the business and at the same time, reduce credit risk. Similar to Bank Jago (IDX: ARTO), SeaBank may utilize the data of its partners to help improve the non-performing loans and scale its lending. Readers who are unaware of SeaBank’s business model can head to mydeep diveinto the company.SE 10-QSE 10-QSE 10-QAs a result of its growing deposits and loan books, its Q3 2022 revenue grew 147% Y/Y, and it has been increasingly making up a bigger portion of its overall revenue at 10.4% this quarter. Management had also been deliberate in cutting down on S&M expenses and combined with its acceleration revenue growth, its adjusted EBITDA margin has improved massively to -20.7% during the quarter. Watching helplessly as your life savings disappear is enough to scare even seasoned investors.

But the best investors, such as Oaktree Capital Management co-founder Howard Marks, know that market downturns can create spectacular opportunities to profit.

Fortunately, we have just such an opportunity today. The following companies saw their stock prices plunge during the 2022 bear market. But they're set to enjoy powerful growth catalysts in the coming years. And with their shares now much more reasonably priced, these beaten-down growth stocks are particularly attractive buys.

Etsy

E-commerce sales surged during the early part of the pandemic. Etsy experienced explosive growth during this period as more people shopped on its sites for handmade items and craft supplies. But after health restrictions were lifted and shoppers returned to traditional retail stores, Etsy's growth slowed. Impatient traders sold, and its stock price sank 45% last year.

Yet Etsy's shares have rallied roughly 90% from their 52-week lows because investors have begun to realize that much of the gains the company earned during the pandemic are likely permanent. The number of active buyers on Etsy's platform topped 88 million in Q3, doubling from the third quarter in 2019. Those buyers are also spending more, with sales per active buyer up 33% during that time. All told, Etsy's revenue and operating cash flow for the first nine months of 2022 rose to $1.8 billion and $392 million, respectively, up from $548 million and $128 million in the comparable period in 2019.

Moreover, Etsy's growth could reaccelerate as e-commerce trends normalize. Online retail sales will approach $7.4 trillion in 2025, up from $5.5 trillion in 2022, according to eMarketer. If Etsy can capture just a small portion of that growth -- and multiple signs suggest it can -- investors who buy its shares at their discounted price today will likely be well rewarded.

Rivian Automotive

Supply chain disruptions made it impossible for Rivian Automotive to hit its vehicle production target for 2022. Meanwhile, surging raw material costs led the electric vehicle (EV) upstart's losses to widen. Rivian's stock price, in turn, plunged 82% last year.

But with its shares trading near record lows, Rivian's stock is now much more reasonably priced. The EV maker ended the third quarter with over $13 billion in cash reserves. That figure is likely lower today due to the company's production expenses. Still, with Rivian's current market cap standing at roughly $15 billion, you can buy its shares at only slightly more than the value of the cash it holds on its balance sheet. Investors are essentially assigning little value to Rivian's operations -- or its potential to generate profits in the future.

Yet Rivian's growth prospects remain intriguing. Sales of fully electric vehicles topped 800,000 in the U.S. in 2022, good for year-over-year growth of over 60%, according to Motor Intelligence. EVs accounted for 5.8% of all vehicles sold last year, up from 3.2% in 2021, as reported by The Wall Street Journal.

Rivian has captured a small sliver of this rapidly expanding market. Its 20,332 vehicle deliveries in 2022 comprised just 2.6% of total U.S. EV sales. But as of Nov. 7, 2022, Rivian had over 114,000 preorders for its popular R1T pickup truck and R1S SUV. The automaker is ramping up production to meet the booming demand for its EVs.

Rivian also has an order for a whopping 100,000 commercial vans from Amazon that it intends to fulfill by 2025. Notably, the e-commerce giant owns a roughly 17% stake in Rivian, which is currently valued at about $2.6 billion.

With its bountiful cash reserves, Amazon's backing, and strong consumer demand for its vehicles, Rivian could rebound sharply from its recent lows. Investors who buy the EV maker's shares today stand to earn sizable rewards if Rivian can deliver on its awesome growth potential.

","source":"fool_stock","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Nasdaq Bear Market: 2 Stocks Down 45% and 82% Poised to Rebound in 2023
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nNasdaq Bear Market: 2 Stocks Down 45% and 82% Poised to Rebound in 2023\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2023-01-14 11:34 GMT+8 Motley Fool\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\"The best bargains are always found in frightening environments.\"-- Howard MarksBear markets can be terrifying. To make matters worse, September will hold several key economic data points and an FOMC meeting which could create even more volatility in a seasonally lousy time.

Today's job report appeared a bit weaker on the surface due to the rising unemployment rate. However, the jobs data showed that the pace of hiring in the economy is still strong, and wage growth remains elevated, despite rising slower than inflation.

The increase in unemployment was driven mainly by the number of workers not in the workforce dropping by 613,000 while the population growth increased by 172,000. This increased the civilian labor force by 786,000, with 442,000 finding work and 344,000 moving into the unemployed column. Unemployment didn't rise because people were losing jobs; unemployment increased because people were pulled into the labor force, perhaps because of solid wage growth, which increased by 5.2% year-over-year.

BLS.GOV

More interesting is that the pace of hiring in the household survey accelerated in August and increased at its fastest rate since March 2022. None of the data from the unemployment report would suggest the Fed is likely to do anything different than it has previously indicated.

Bloomberg

Meanwhile, CPI is likely still tracking above 8% for August and September, based on the Cleveland Fed estimates. Currently, estimates are for a year-over-year inflation rate of 8.3% for August, and 8.4% for September. Meanwhile, core CPI is forecast to rise by 6.25% in August and 6.6% in September. The increase in CPI for August would be slightly slower than 8.5% for July, while core CPI would be somewhat faster than the 5.9% y/y change.

Bloomberg

A rising core CPI and a strong employment report could push the Fed to raise rates by 75 bps in September. While markets are leaning towards a 75 bps rate hike in September, they aren't convinced, with current odds at just 62%.

CME Group

On top of that September tends to be, on average over the past 30 years, the weakest month with an average decline of -0.34%. The declines have been as much as 11%, and the gains have been as much as 8.8%.

Bloomberg

S&P 500 Valuation Is Rich Versus Bonds

Data and questions around the next Fed meeting will create a lot of volatility in an already weak time of the year. Interest rates have risen dramatically since Jackson Hole, pushing the S&P 500's valuation to historically high levels relative to the 10-yr yield, with a current spread between the earnings yield and the 10-yr rate now at 2.47%. But given, that spread should be widening because that is what happens when financial conditions tighten, it tells us that stocks are overvalued currently versus bonds.

Bloomberg

With a nominal 10-Yr rate hovering around 3.25%, if the spread between the S&P 500 earnings yield and the 10-Yr rate moves up to 3%, it would assume an earnings yield for the S&P 500 of 6.25%, or a PE Ratio of 16, which is about 9% lower than the S&P's current PE of roughly 17.6. That would equate to a value on the S&P 500 of approximately 3,640 and close to the June lows.

June Lows Are In-Play

The likelihood of the S&P 500 retesting those June lows seems to be increasing, and today's job data isn't likely to help. The fact of the matter is that rates are rising, and the August jobs data do not suggest the Fed should slow rate hikes or change its policy path, and the CPI data isn't likely to either. This means the Fed should remain on course to raise rates to around 4% by the middle of 2023, as the Fed Funds Futures are pricing. To make matters worse, September will hold several key economic data points and an FOMC meeting which could create even more volatility in a seasonally lousy time.Today's job report appeared a bit weaker on the surface due to the rising unemployment rate. Unemployment didn't rise because people were losing jobs; unemployment increased because people were pulled into the labor force, perhaps because of solid wage growth, which increased by 5.2% year-over-year.BLS.GOVMore interesting is that the pace of hiring in the household survey accelerated in August and increased at its fastest rate since March 2022. None of the data from the unemployment report would suggest the Fed is likely to do anything different than it has previously indicated.BloombergMeanwhile, CPI is likely still tracking above 8% for August and September, based on the Cleveland Fed estimates. Currently, estimates are for a year-over-year inflation rate of 8.3% for August, and 8.4% for September. Meanwhile, core CPI is forecast to rise by 6.25% in August and 6.6% in September. The increase in CPI for August would be slightly slower than 8.5% for July, while core CPI would be somewhat faster than the 5.9% y/y change.BloombergA rising core CPI and a strong employment report could push the Fed to raise rates by 75 bps in September. While markets are leaning towards a 75 bps rate hike in September, they aren't convinced, with current odds at just 62%.CME GroupOn top of that September tends to be, on average over the past 30 years, the weakest month with an average decline of -0.34%. The declines have been as much as 11%, and the gains have been as much as 8.8%.BloombergS&P 500 Valuation Is Rich Versus BondsData and questions around the next Fed meeting will create a lot of volatility in an already weak time of the year. Interest rates have risen dramatically since Jackson Hole, pushing the S&P 500's valuation to historically high levels relative to the 10-yr yield, with a current spread between the earnings yield and the 10-yr rate now at 2.47%. But given, that spread should be widening because that is what happens when financial conditions tighten, it tells us that stocks are overvalued currently versus bonds.BloombergWith a nominal 10-Yr rate hovering around 3.25%, if the spread between the S&P 500 earnings yield and the 10-Yr rate moves up to 3%, it would assume an earnings yield for the S&P 500 of 6.25%, or a PE Ratio of 16, which is about 9% lower than the S&P's current PE of roughly 17.6. That would equate to a value on the S&P 500 of approximately 3,640 and close to the June lows.June Lows Are In-PlayThe likelihood of the S&P 500 retesting those June lows seems to be increasing, and today's job data isn't likely to help. Given that, it will be tough for an equity rally to see a sustained advance.BloombergAs rates continue to price higher, not only will nominal rates climb, but so will real rates, and currently, the 5-year and 10-Yr TIP rates have climbed right back to or above their cycle highs. This means that if real rates are rising, shouldn't the earnings yield of the S&P 500 be rising too? After all, they have followed each other this closely for the past five years; shouldn't that continue well into the future?BloombergUnless, of course, you still think the Fed will make a dovish pivot.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":251,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9930058520,"gmtCreate":1661878283363,"gmtModify":1676536595159,"author":{"id":"3556245356712656","authorId":"3556245356712656","name":"JorgenS","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3556245356712656","authorIdStr":"3556245356712656"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Yeah","listText":"Yeah","text":"Yeah","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":5,"commentSize":2,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9930058520","repostId":"2263460679","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2263460679","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1661872861,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2263460679?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2022-08-30 23:21","market":"us","language":"en","title":"3 Terrible Stocks to Avoid","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2263460679","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"Big problems plague these beaten-down stocks.","content":"

Investing is as much about avoiding costly mistakes as it is about finding winning stocks. Let's look at the reasons why Micron Technology stock could 10x once again in the next 10 years.

Micron will benefit from the memory market's secular growth

The dynamic random access memory (DRAM) market generated $24.6 billion in revenue back in 2012, according to memory market intelligence provider DRAMeXchange. By the end of 2022, global DRAM revenue is expected to hit nearly $92 billion. This substantial increase in DRAM industry revenue over the past decade has been driven by an increase in the need for computing power.

For instance, the average DRAM content in each smartphone was 666 megabytes (MB) back in 2012, a figure that increased eightfold by the end of 2021 to 5.3 gigabytes (GB). Additionally, the deployment of hyperscale data centers that require high data transfer speeds and the increase in the DRAM capacity of computers and laptops has been driving this industry's terrific growth.

The good news for Micron investors is that the DRAM market will keep expanding in the long run. Mordor Intelligence estimates that global DRAM revenue could exceed $100 billion by 2026, though it won't be surprising to see the market grow at a faster pace for a few simple reasons.

First, the smartphone market is going to be a big catalyst for DRAM sales in the coming years. That's because 5G smartphones are using 50% more DRAM as compared to 4G devices. With the 5G smartphone market expected to clock a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of nearly 125% through 2025, the need for mobile DRAM is going to increase rapidly.

Second, graphics cards that are now used in several applications ranging from personal computers to gaming consoles to data centers and even self-driving cars also use DRAM. Now, the global graphics card market is expected to grow at an annual rate of 33% through 2027, so this is another area that would create the need for more memory chips.

Meanwhile, there are emerging memory technologies on the horizon to support the need for faster computing. The market for such next-generation memory chips could exceed $30 billion in revenue by 2030, growing at an annual rate of nearly 28% through the forecast period. All of this indicates that Micron's addressable revenue opportunity in the DRAM market is set to increase in the long run. This bodes well for the company as it gets 73% of its revenue from this space.

On the other hand, the NAND flash market that supplies a quarter of Micron's revenue is also expanding rapidly thanks to the growing need for storage in data centers, smartphones, and computers. By 2027, the NAND flash market is expected to reach $94 billion in revenue as compared to $66 billion last year.

More importantly, Micron is in a nice position to generate incremental long-term revenue thanks to the expansion of its end markets. That's because the company held a 22% share of the DRAM market last year, and the good part is that it has been gaining ground over rivals. The company could steal a march over rivals in the NAND flash market as well thanks to its latest product development move. Micron has started the mass production of the industry's first 176-layer NAND data center solid-state drive that's currently being evaluated by several hyperscale and data center customers.

As such, it won't be surprising to see Micron corner a bigger share of the NAND flash market, compared to just over 10% last year.

Solid earnings growth could send the stock soaring

Micron Technology has been benefiting big time from the strength of the memory market in recent years, as evident from the chart below.

MU Revenue (TTM) data by YCharts

The chipmaker released its fiscal 2022 second-quarter results on March 29 and revealed a 25% year-over-year increase in revenue to $7.79 billion. Adjusted earnings shot up 118% over the prior-year period to $2.14 per share. The company easily crushed Wall Street's expectations and issued healthy guidance, which indicates that its momentum is here to stay.

The potential growth of Micron's end market could help it maintain its impressive pace of growth. Not surprisingly, analysts expect its earnings to increase at a 30% compound annual growth rate over the next five years, which is nearly identical to the annual growth it has seen in the past five years.

If Micron could sustain a 30% annual earnings growth rate for the next 10 years thanks to booming memory demand, its earnings could hit $83 per share after a decade as compared to $6.06 per share last year. Invest $16,250 Into This Ultra-High-Yield Stock Trio","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2212671969","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"These income powerhouses sport an average yield of 12.32%!","content":"

There is no shortage of investing strategies that can pay off handsomely on Wall Street. Whether you love chasing after the innovative capacity of growth stocks or prefer the simplicity of value stocks, either strategy can work wonders over the long run.

But when it comes to wealth building, few investing strategies have been more consistent than buying dividend stocks.

Although it's a report I reference often, J.P. Morgan Asset Management's comparison of the performance of dividend-paying stocks to those not paying a dividend over multiple decades speaks wonders. J.P. Morgan Asset Management, a division of money-center bank JPMorgan Chase, found that dividend-paying companies returned an annual average of 9.5% between 1972 and 2012. By comparison, the companies not paying a dividend crawled to an annualized return of 1.6% over the same period.

Over time, we should expect dividend stocks to outperform. Companies that parse out a dividend on a regular basis are often profitable, time-tested, and have transparent long-term outlooks. These are typically companies that won't keep investors awake at night with worry.

Ideally, income seekers want the highest dividend yield possible with the least amount of risk. However, risk and yield tend to correlate once yields hit 4% or above. In other words, high-yielding stocks can be yield traps -- i.e., companies with enticingly high yields where the underlying business model is struggling or broken.

The good news is that not all high-yielding stocks are bad news. The following three ultra-high-yielding stocks, which are averaging (yes, averaging) a 12.32% dividend yield, can generate $2,000 in annual dividend income with an initial investment of only $16,250 (split evenly, three ways).

Annaly Capital Management: 12.12% yield

Mortgage real estate investment trust (REIT) Annaly Capital Management (NYSE:NLY) is no stranger to ultra-high-yield dividend stock lists. It's perhaps the most-trusted ultra-high-yield stock, with an average yield of around 10% over the past two decades. The company has also doled out more than $20 billion in dividend income since its inception in 1997.

Mortgage REITs like Annaly have a relatively straightforward operating model, even if the securities they own can be somewhat complex. Annaly is looking to borrow money at the lowest short-term rate possible, and use this capital to purchase higher-yielding long-term assets, like mortgage-backed securities (MBSs). The wider the gap between the average yield on MBSs and the average borrowing rate (this difference is known as the net interest margin), the more money mortgage REITs like Annaly can make.

As you might imagine, the mortgage REIT operating model tends to be interest-rate sensitive, with lower rates often providing the best environment for companies like Annaly to thrive. Over the past couple of months, the interest rate yield curve has flattened a bit, with the 2-year and 10-year yields on U.S. Treasury bonds narrowing. Since the 10-year Treasury bond is a good predictor for where mortgage rates head next, this tightening has resulted in a shrinking book value for Annaly.

But if you pan out beyond just the next couple of quarters, there's a lot to be excited about. If the Federal Reserve does raise lending rates, as expected, it'll also lift the yields on the MBSs Annaly is purchasing. Over time, this will widen the company's net interest margin.

What's more, the interest rate yield curve spends a disproportionately longer period of time in steepening than it does flattening. That's because the U.S. economy spends years expanding, compared to a couple of months or a few quarters in recession. In short, patience should pay off handsomely for Annaly's shareholders.

Icahn Enterprises: 14.44% yield

Another high-yielding dividend stock that can deliver an enormous amount of income from a relatively small investment is diversified holding company Icahn Enterprises (NASDAQ:IEP). This master limited partnership has paid a quarterly distribution for nearly 17 consecutive years and is currently yielding north of 14%!

There are two key reasons Icahn Enterprises is a smart buy for patient, income-seeking investors (aside from its insanely high yield). First, you get the leadership of Carl Icahn, who's the founder of the company and the chairman of the board of directors. Icahn is arguably one of the best-known activist investors on Wall Street. Activist investors usually buy up a single-digit-percentage stake in a company with the goal of gaining board seats or effecting change(s) to increase shareholder value. Sometimes this means pushing for the sale of noncore assets, introducing a capital return program, or perhaps putting an entire company up for sale.

The beauty of the activist-investor approach is that it usually benefits shareholders. While no activist investor has a perfect track record of success, Icahn has shown that he can help create value in virtually any economic environment. That's been demonstrated by Icahn Enterprises' 66 consecutive quarterly distributions.

The second reason this ultra-high-yield stock can be a foundation for income seekers is the cyclical ties of its core holdings. The company has more than a half-dozen different industries represented by its operating segments. But a large percentage of this representation is tied to the energy and automotive industries. As noted, even though recessions are inevitable, periods of expansion last considerably longer. This suggests the natural expansion of the U.S. and global economy over time will allow the value of Icahn Enterprises' cyclical holdings to increase.

AGNC Investment Corp.: 10.4% yield

The third ultra-high-yield dividend stock that can pad investors' pocketbooks is AGNC Investment Corp. (NASDAQ:AGNC). It has averaged a double-digit yield in 12 of the past 13 years, making it one of the most consistently high-yielding companies of the past decade.

AGNC is another mortgage REIT that investors can trust. It has the same basic operating model as Annaly Capital Management, with a unique aspect or two that income seekers should be aware of.

For instance, AGNC has been parsing out its dividend on a monthly basis since October 2014. Most dividend stocks and mortgage REITs, including Annaly, pay their dividends once a quarter. If you prefer the adrenaline rush of nabbing a payout from your holdings on a monthly basis, buying AGNC is the smart way to go.

Something else to note about AGNC Investment is the company's penchant for buying agency securities. An agency asset is backed by the federal government in the event of default. As of the end of 2021, $79.7 billion of AGNC's $82 billion investment portfolio was agency securities. This is an even higher percentage of agency securities, relative to total portfolio holdings, than Annaly has. Though this added protection does lower the yields AGNC nets from the MBSs it purchases, it also allows the company to deploy leverage to boost its profit potential.

The transparency of the mortgage REIT industry also allows income investors to make smart decisions. Whether you love chasing after the innovative capacity of growth stocks or prefer the simplicity of value stocks, either strategy can work wonders over the long run.But when it comes to wealth building, few investing strategies have been more consistent than buying dividend stocks.Although it's a report I reference often, J.P. By comparison, the companies not paying a dividend crawled to an annualized return of 1.6% over the same period.Over time, we should expect dividend stocks to outperform. Companies that parse out a dividend on a regular basis are often profitable, time-tested, and have transparent long-term outlooks. These are typically companies that won't keep investors awake at night with worry.Ideally, income seekers want the highest dividend yield possible with the least amount of risk. However, risk and yield tend to correlate once yields hit 4% or above. In other words, high-yielding stocks can be yield traps -- i.e., companies with enticingly high yields where the underlying business model is struggling or broken. The good news is that not all high-yielding stocks are bad news. The following three ultra-high-yielding stocks, which are averaging (yes, averaging) a 12.32% dividend yield, can generate $2,000 in annual dividend income with an initial investment of only $16,250 (split evenly, three ways).Annaly Capital Management: 12.12% yieldMortgage real estate investment trust (REIT) Annaly Capital Management (NYSE:NLY) is no stranger to ultra-high-yield dividend stock lists. It's perhaps the most-trusted ultra-high-yield stock, with an average yield of around 10% over the past two decades. The company has also doled out more than $20 billion in dividend income since its inception in 1997.Mortgage REITs like Annaly have a relatively straightforward operating model, even if the securities they own can be somewhat complex. Annaly is looking to borrow money at the lowest short-term rate possible, and use this capital to purchase higher-yielding long-term assets, like mortgage-backed securities (MBSs). The wider the gap between the average yield on MBSs and the average borrowing rate (this difference is known as the net interest margin), the more money mortgage REITs like Annaly can make.As you might imagine, the mortgage REIT operating model tends to be interest-rate sensitive, with lower rates often providing the best environment for companies like Annaly to thrive. In short, patience should pay off handsomely for Annaly's shareholders.Icahn Enterprises: 14.44% yieldAnother high-yielding dividend stock that can deliver an enormous amount of income from a relatively small investment is diversified holding company Icahn Enterprises (NASDAQ:IEP). This master limited partnership has paid a quarterly distribution for nearly 17 consecutive years and is currently yielding north of 14%!There are two key reasons Icahn Enterprises is a smart buy for patient, income-seeking investors (aside from its insanely high yield). This suggests the natural expansion of the U.S. and global economy over time will allow the value of Icahn Enterprises' cyclical holdings to increase.AGNC Investment Corp.: 10.4% yieldThe third ultra-high-yield dividend stock that can pad investors' pocketbooks is AGNC Investment Corp. (NASDAQ:AGNC). It has averaged a double-digit yield in 12 of the past 13 years, making it one of the most consistently high-yielding companies of the past decade.AGNC is another mortgage REIT that investors can trust. It has the same basic operating model as Annaly Capital Management, with a unique aspect or two that income seekers should be aware of.For instance, AGNC has been parsing out its dividend on a monthly basis since October 2014. Most dividend stocks and mortgage REITs, including Annaly, pay their dividends once a quarter. If you prefer the adrenaline rush of nabbing a payout from your holdings on a monthly basis, buying AGNC is the smart way to go.Something else to note about AGNC Investment is the company's penchant for buying agency securities. The stocks in this industry tend to trade very close to their respective book values. With AGNC's shares changing hands for just 88% of their book value at the time of this writing, it makes for not only an excellent income stock, but a fantastic bounce-back candidate from a share price perspective.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":608,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9968681591,"gmtCreate":1669209480913,"gmtModify":1676538167546,"author":{"id":"3556245356712656","authorId":"3556245356712656","name":"JorgenS","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3556245356712656","authorIdStr":"3556245356712656"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Up","listText":"Up","text":"Up","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9968681591","repostId":"1145116426","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":277,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9910312971,"gmtCreate":1663555914893,"gmtModify":1676537289807,"author":{"id":"3556245356712656","authorId":"3556245356712656","name":"JorgenS","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":4,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3556245356712656","authorIdStr":"3556245356712656"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Ok","listText":"Ok","text":"Ok","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9910312971","repostId":"1137891841","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1137891841","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1663560469,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1137891841?lang=&edition=full_marsco","pubTime":"2022-09-19 12:07","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Tesla Stock: Potential Catalysts Not Enough to Turn Fully Bullish, Says Analyst","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1137891841","media":"TipRanks","summary":"Not quite.Despite highlighting recent accomplishments such as “profits in the past 4 quarters and record deliveries,” Bagri refrains from giving Tesla his full backing. This is due to “increasing competitive pricing pressure, increasing OpEx to support Gigafactory Shanghai and Model Y ramps, and the automaker’s history of profitability issues.”Additionally, as the company scales manufacturing of the Model Y and Cybertruck, Bagri anticipates there will be other “obstacles and setbacks.”Accordingl","content":"
\n
By the end of 2030, global BEV (battery electric vehicle) adoption is anticipated to reach 40%. According to Needham analyst Vikram Bagri, Tesla’s (TSLA)market share of passenger vehicles could reach ~10%.“Key to our global market share estimate is the company maintaining its high single digit share in China, one of the most mature and competitive markets for EVs,” the analyst explained. “In the West, TSLA has the industry’s most expansive charging network, which helps it maintain its strong market share.”Furthermore, in the here and now, Bagri thinks there are several potential catalysts on the horizon.With the removal of the 200,000-vehicle cap, the Inflation Reduction Act’s renewed eligibility for federal tax credits is one of them. Others include a potential credit rating upgrade to IG (investment grade) by the end of the year, the Cybertruck hitting the market in 2023, the charging network’s expansion and better utilization, and an increase in gross margins brought on by 4680 cells.Another catalyst could come in the form of the Full FSD release to all North American customers in the fourth quarter, although Bagri thinks perfecting the technology “will take more time.”So, as Bagri’s previous rating on the shares was an Underperform (i.e., Sell), is it now time to turn bullish on all things Tesla? Not quite.Despite highlighting recent accomplishments such as “profits in the past 4 quarters and record deliveries,” Bagri refrains from giving Tesla his full backing.This is due to “increasing competitive pricing pressure, increasing OpEx to support Gigafactory Shanghai (and later Europe) and Model Y ramps, and the automaker’s history of profitability issues.”Additionally, as the company scales manufacturing of the Model Y and Cybertruck, Bagri anticipates there will be other “obstacles and setbacks.”Accordingly, then, the rating is upgraded to Hold (i.e., Neutral) with no fixed price target provided.Bagri is now on the fence along with 5 other analysts. 5 others recommend dropping the shares, but 19 other analyst reviews are positive, giving this stock its Moderate Buy consensus rating. Bagri thinks the stock is “fairly priced” and so do most of his colleagues; the $310.31 average target suggests the shares will remain rangebound for the foreseeable future.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":195,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"lives":[]}
