Therefore, there's no need to look too far ahead for investors who are thinking about Meta Platforms' (FB) metaverse future. As WSJ aptly put it,the metaverse is already here. From Second Life to Roblox, World of Warcraft, they are here. Roblox users can already experience 3D immersive experiences. The social community, the interaction, its economy, Roblox seems to have it all. Yet, some investors think that Web 3.0 and the numerous decentralized autonomous organizations compete to build their metaverse.

But, as Coinbase (COIN) Co-founder and CEO Brian Armstrong emphasized, Web 3.0 isn't a metaverse. Instead, he articulated (edited):

Web 3.0 will be about digital ownership within an open, decentralized environment. The metaverse is the distant evolution of Web 3.0. But, it’s not the same as Web 3.0. In its most complete form, the metaverse will be a series of decentralized, interconnected virtual worlds with a fully functioning economy where people can do just about anything they can do in the physical world. (Coinbase)

Interestingly, Coinbase also noted that nobody has successfully built the metaverse based on its vision. Tencent also acknowledged that we are still very early in the metaverse development journey, with multiple iterations yet to unfold. Meta Platforms has also acknowledged that the metaverse journey will be a multi-year project over the next ten to fifteen years. Therefore, readers should note that Roblox is still very early in its journey to build its version of the metaverse.

The recent growth-stock retracement has also battered Roblox stock. Moreover, sellers also took control after it missed its November daily active users (DAU) and Bookings estimates. Consequently, RBLX stock has fallen 17% since our previous Neutral rating, as we encouraged investors to be patient.

Therefore, we believe the time has come to revisit our RBLX stock rating.

Roblox and its Gaming Metaverse Ambitions

Notably, Coinbase highlighted that there wouldn't be just one metaverse. \"There will be many Metaverses, and they'll be interconnected.\" Therefore, Roblox wouldn't be the only way (obviously) for investors to gain access to the metaverse opportunities. Nevertheless, Coinbase also recognizes that Roblox is one of the leading authorities in building their metaverse. Notably, COIN noted that Roblox is a gaming-focused platform that has achieved several key metaverse attributes. For example, Roblox is \"virtual, massively scaled, persistent, and synchronous.\" However, the Roblox platform doesn't yet meet the attributes of \"a fully-functioning economy, open and decentralized, and interoperable.\"

Therefore, Roblox still has plenty of opportunities to build upon its metaverse ambitions. We would have been surprised if Roblox had achieved all these attributes by now. Roblox is still very early in its metaverse opportunity, and we don't think it will happen in the next five years. It's a long-term project. eMarketer also emphasized that in \"2022, each tech firmwill have its version of the metaverse.\" In addition, Bernstein emphasized (edited):

Despite the hype, the metaverse isn’t just a fad. It's an important concept for investors to understand when thinking about the longer-term growth prospects for many tech companies. We offer the metaverse as the next stage of the way we use the Internet, connectivity, and computing. (Barron's)

Notably, Bernstein also added that the metaverse is unlikely to be one where there is a \"single open operating system,\" which involves total interoperability. Moreover, as Coinbase pointed out earlier, it also doesn't believe that it will happen. Instead, there will be multiple metaverses, and the tech world will find a way for interoperability. It highlighted blockchain technology as the critical enabler. We also observed that Meta Platforms' incoming CTO Andrew Bosworth also emphasized blockchain technology \"could have profound impacts in our society over the next decade.\"

Crucially, we believe that Meta Platforms' metaverse ambitions will not conflict with what Roblox will achieve on the gaming front. We have a firm conviction that Roblox is one of the foremost leaders when building a gaming-focused metaverse. But, readers should note that gaming per se is not a metaverse but an activity that can be performed in the metaverse. Therefore, incorporating a gaming-focused approach is not exclusive to Roblox.

However, we believe Roblox's gaming-focused approach has set them apart from its gaming peers. First, gaming is a massive market. According to Accenture, there are 2.7B gamers worldwide. Its revenue impact is estimated to be $300B in total ($200B direct, $100B indirect). According to RTrack,Roblox has 226M monthly active users (MAU) in October, way ahead of Fortnite's 60M MAU.

Moreover, as highlighted by Sensor Tower, Roblox continues to be among the top gaming platforms. It's the #4 mobile game globally whose annual in-game revenue crossed $1B as of 14 December. It's also among the top ten mobile games worldwide based on November downloads across both the App Store and Google Play.

Even though its November DAU metrics may have disappointed the market, we believe investors should consider the long-term perspective. We think RBLX stock had very high expectations going into its November metrics, where it underperformed on both Bookings and DAU. The momentum spike from its post-FQ3 earnings was quickly digested by its November disappointment. Therefore, we were not surprised with the market reaction, but were waiting for this moment to arrive, where bad news hit the stock. Moreover, we believe monthly DAU and Bookings volatility has been a feature of RBLX for some time. We almost don't pay attention to monthly numbers as we think it's too volatile.

Moreover, Roblox has proven the resilience of its platform in FQ3. Investors should recall that the company reported an underwhelming FQ2 report card. But, FQ3's figures surprised to the upside. Therefore, it shows that investors need to take a long-term approach when evaluating Roblox's opportunities.

Roblox's Massive Advertising Tailwind

We believe that Roblox has a tremendous head start over the other gaming platforms in a gaming-focused metaverse. Roblox VP of Brand Partnerships Christina Wootton reminded us that \"every brand will need a metaverse strategy, and the ones who have one are at the forefront.\" We have already seen how Roblox has benefited from fashion brands that are beginning to penetrate the metaverse through Roblox. Nike (NKE) createdNIKELANDrecently. \"Ralph Lauren (RL) has partnered with Roblox to release limited-edition virtual clothing made by the legendary designer.\" Gucci (OTCPK:PPRUF) created its Gucci Garden experience earlier this year. The opportunity for fashion brands to lean into the metaverse is tremendous.

Fashion retailers are leaning in early because the profit opportunity is massive. They don't have raw materials and high labor costs or factories to run. Neither do they have to worry about overproduction or cost-overrun, which leads to margin compressions. They also do not need to send their inventory to discount outlets, which markedly impacts the value of their products. Moreover, their creativity can be unleashed on products that are impossible in the physical world. Bloomberg reported (edited):

Minting designs in the metaverse also opens up huge avenues of creativity. After all, the garments can look like anything a designer wants; the limitations normally imposed by market practicalities - or even gravity or logic - are gone. Any company with decades of archival designs can convert that intellectual property into a new revenue stream, reissuing pieces as metaverse-only. (Bloomberg)

Therefore, with advertising revenue still an insignificant contributor to its total revenue, we believe that advertising will be a massive tailwind for Roblox as more brands enter the Roblox platform. Readers should remember that the company has amassed well over 200M MAU. These users will age along well with the growth of the platform.

Roblox DAU by age group. Data source: Company filings

Roblox demonstrated in its FQ3 report card that its \"over 13 years\" age group has started to grow relative to its \"under 13 years\" users. We can observe from the charts above that its \"over 13 years\" users accounted for most of its total user engagement and DAU. The trend will likely continue as they grow with the platform.

Roblox CEO David Baszucki is also ramping up the company's opportunities beyond gaming (recall gaming is just one of the activities in the metaverse). In a recent interview, he emphasized that \"he (has) a broader audience in mind. In the metaverse, people will take part in more mundane activities than hunting sharks. They'll attend town halls and industry conferences - gatherings where Roblox can offer something a Zoom call can't, mainly a third dimension in which participants can intermingle and explore.\" Baszucki emphasized (edited):

If we can do that, we would have a lot of the things people dream about in terms of making the metaverse feel like an everyday place to be. Yes, there will be volcanoes to flee and medieval battles to wage, but also corporate meetings and - gulp - remote-learning classes. We can dissect a frog together in high fidelity. (Bloomberg)

So, is RBLX Stock a Buy Now?

We have previously been lukewarm to Roblox's metaverse opportunity. But, after more in-depth studies into the metaverse future across several companies and themes, we have become convinced of what Roblox offers. Moreover, as we noted recently, Roblox stock is also one of Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF's (META) most significant holdings. Therefore, we believe that the stock will exceed its November highs in due course.

Given that the stock's recent momentum spike has been digested, we believe the opportunity has arrived for us to consider adding exposure. But, it has ambitions to build an all-encompassing metaverse. However, the company reported November DAU and Bookings metrics that disappointed the market. We discuss whether the stock will rebound to its November highs.Ian Tuttle/Getty Images EntertainmentInvestment ThesisRoblox Corporation (RBLX) is recognized as a metaverse for younger gamers by global gaming giant Tencent (OTCPK:TCEHY). Instead, he articulated (edited):Web 3.0 will be about digital ownership within an open, decentralized environment. The metaverse is the distant evolution of Web 3.0. But, it’s not the same as Web 3.0. In its most complete form, the metaverse will be a series of decentralized, interconnected virtual worlds with a fully functioning economy where people can do just about anything they can do in the physical world. (Coinbase)Interestingly, Coinbase also noted that nobody has successfully built the metaverse based on its vision. Therefore, we believe the time has come to revisit our RBLX stock rating.Roblox and its Gaming Metaverse AmbitionsNotably, Coinbase highlighted that there wouldn't be just one metaverse. For example, Roblox is \"virtual, massively scaled, persistent, and synchronous.\" However, the Roblox platform doesn't yet meet the attributes of \"a fully-functioning economy, open and decentralized, and interoperable.\"Therefore, Roblox still has plenty of opportunities to build upon its metaverse ambitions. We would have been surprised if Roblox had achieved all these attributes by now. Roblox is still very early in its metaverse opportunity, and we don't think it will happen in the next five years. It's a long-term project. eMarketer also emphasized that in \"2022, each tech firmwill have its version of the metaverse.\" In addition, Bernstein emphasized (edited):Despite the hype, the metaverse isn’t just a fad. It's an important concept for investors to understand when thinking about the longer-term growth prospects for many tech companies. We offer the metaverse as the next stage of the way we use the Internet, connectivity, and computing. (Barron's)Notably, Bernstein also added that the metaverse is unlikely to be one where there is a \"single open operating system,\" which involves total interoperability. Moreover, as Coinbase pointed out earlier, it also doesn't believe that it will happen. Instead, there will be multiple metaverses, and the tech world will find a way for interoperability. It highlighted blockchain technology as the critical enabler. We also observed that Meta Platforms' incoming CTO Andrew Bosworth also emphasized blockchain technology \"could have profound impacts in our society over the next decade.\"Crucially, we believe that Meta Platforms' metaverse ambitions will not conflict with what Roblox will achieve on the gaming front. According to RTrack,Roblox has 226M monthly active users (MAU) in October, way ahead of Fortnite's 60M MAU.Moreover, as highlighted by Sensor Tower, Roblox continues to be among the top gaming platforms. It's the #4 mobile game globally whose annual in-game revenue crossed $1B as of 14 December. It's also among the top ten mobile games worldwide based on November downloads across both the App Store and Google Play.Even though its November DAU metrics may have disappointed the market, we believe investors should consider the long-term perspective. Therefore, it shows that investors need to take a long-term approach when evaluating Roblox's opportunities.Roblox's Massive Advertising TailwindWe believe that Roblox has a tremendous head start over the other gaming platforms in a gaming-focused metaverse. The opportunity for fashion brands to lean into the metaverse is tremendous.Fashion retailers are leaning in early because the profit opportunity is massive. Bloomberg reported (edited):Minting designs in the metaverse also opens up huge avenues of creativity. After all, the garments can look like anything a designer wants; the limitations normally imposed by market practicalities - or even gravity or logic - are gone. Any company with decades of archival designs can convert that intellectual property into a new revenue stream, reissuing pieces as metaverse-only. (Bloomberg)Therefore, with advertising revenue still an insignificant contributor to its total revenue, we believe that advertising will be a massive tailwind for Roblox as more brands enter the Roblox platform. Readers should remember that the company has amassed well over 200M MAU. These users will age along well with the growth of the platform.Roblox DAU by age group. Data source: Company filingsRoblox user engagement by age group. Data source: Company filingsRoblox demonstrated in its FQ3 report card that its \"over 13 years\" age group has started to grow relative to its \"under 13 years\" users. We can observe from the charts above that its \"over 13 years\" users accounted for most of its total user engagement and DAU. The trend will likely continue as they grow with the platform.Roblox CEO David Baszucki is also ramping up the company's opportunities beyond gaming (recall gaming is just one of the activities in the metaverse). In a recent interview, he emphasized that \"he (has) a broader audience in mind. In the metaverse, people will take part in more mundane activities than hunting sharks. They'll attend town halls and industry conferences - gatherings where Roblox can offer something a Zoom call can't, mainly a third dimension in which participants can intermingle and explore.\" Baszucki emphasized (edited):If we can do that, we would have a lot of the things people dream about in terms of making the metaverse feel like an everyday place to be. Yes, there will be volcanoes to flee and medieval battles to wage, but also corporate meetings and - gulp - remote-learning classes. We can dissect a frog together in high fidelity. (Bloomberg)So, is RBLX Stock a Buy Now?We have previously been lukewarm to Roblox's metaverse opportunity. But, after more in-depth studies into the metaverse future across several companies and themes, we have become convinced of what Roblox offers. Moreover, as we noted recently, Roblox stock is also one of Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF's (META) most significant holdings. Therefore, we believe that the stock will exceed its November highs in due course.Given that the stock's recent momentum spike has been digested, we believe the opportunity has arrived for us to consider adding exposure. We can't tell for sure whether the stock will continue to fall. However, its price is now within our fair value zone, and we think it's reasonable to assume a starter position. RBLX stock is highly volatile, so we don't think readers need to be too aggressive when adding exposure. It's perfectly fine to add over time as Roblox continues to prove its business model. Therefore,we revise our rating on RBLX stock to Buy.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1099,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9003619412,"gmtCreate":1640959231751,"gmtModify":1676533558569,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9003619412","repostId":"1173493285","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":772,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9003913872,"gmtCreate":1640844033737,"gmtModify":1676533547303,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":4,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9003913872","repostId":"1105706942","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":746,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9003935156,"gmtCreate":1640842488679,"gmtModify":1676533547178,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9003935156","repostId":"2195466435","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"2195466435","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1640814752,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2195466435?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2021-12-30 05:52","market":"us","language":"en","title":"Dow, S&P Close at Record Highs as Omicron Worries Ease","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2195466435","media":"Reuters","summary":"Dec 29 (Reuters) - The Dow and S&P 500 closed at all-time highs on Wednesday on a boost from retaile","content":"

Dec 29 (Reuters) - The Dow and S&P 500 closed at all-time highs on Wednesday on a boost from retailers including Walgreens and Nike, as investors shrugged off concerns on the spreading Omicron variant.

The Dow has now risen six straight trading days, marking the longest streak of gains since a seven-session run from March 5 to March 15 this year.

Walgreens Boots Alliance and Nike Inc rose 1.59% and 1.42% respectively against the backdrop of recent reports suggesting holiday sales were strong for U.S. retailers.

Data on Wednesday showed the U.S. trade deficit in goods mushroomed to the widest ever in November as imports of consumer goods shot to a record, as the coronavirus pandemic has limited spending by Americans on services.

Some early studies pointing to a reduced risk of hospitalization in Omicron cases have eased some investors concerns over the travel disruptions and powered the S&P 500 to record highs this week.

\"The market started to recognize that the Omicron variant was in a strange way good news, because it will burn itself out more rapidly because it's easily transmissible, but it's less likely to overwhelm hospitals,\" said Jay Hatfield, founder and chief executive of Infrastructure Capital Management in New York. Still, he said Omicron arguably is going to be a headwind for at least the next month.Meanwhile, the S&P 1500 airlines index dipped. Delta Air Lines and Alaska Air Group canceled hundreds of flights again on Tuesday as the daily tally of infections in the United States surged.Three of the 11 major S&P sector indexes declined, the energy index, the consumer services sector .SPLRCL and the financial sector are in the red.Typically, the final five trading days of the year and the first two of the subsequent year are seasonally strong for U.S. stocks, known as the \"Santa Claus Rally.\" However, market participants warned against reading too much into daily moves as the holiday season tends to record some of the lowest volume turnovers that can cause exaggerated price action. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 90.42 points, or 0.25%, to 36,488.63, the S&P 500 gained 6.71 points, or 0.14%, to 4,793.06 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 15.51 points, or 0.1%, to 15,766.22.The S&P 500 dipped on Tuesday in the lowest trading volume session of 2021, snapping a four-day winning streak. As 2021 draws to a close, the main U.S. stock indexes are on pace for their third straight year of stunning annual returns, boosted by historic fiscal and monetary stimulus. The S&P 500 is looking at its strongest three-year performance since 1999.The focus next year will shift to the U.S. Federal Reserve's path of interest rate hikes amid a surge in prices caused by supply chain bottlenecks and a strong economic rebound.Among other stocks, shares of Victoria’s Secret & Co rose more than 12% after the intimate apparel retailer announced a $250 million accelerated share repurchase program. The retailer also said they had strong sales over the holidays.Tesla's CEO Elon Musk exercised all of his options expiring next year, signaling an end to his stock sales. Its shares dropped 0.21% but were still on course to end about 54% for the year.Volume on U.S. exchanges was 7.89 billion shares, compared with the 11.15 billion average for the full session over the last 20 trading days.Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the NYSE by a 1.20-to-1 ratio; on Nasdaq, a 1.43-to-1 ratio favored decliners. The S&P 500 posted 76 new 52-week highs and no new lows; the Nasdaq Composite recorded 77 new highs and 374 new lows.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":682,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9009287671,"gmtCreate":1640694293417,"gmtModify":1676533534516,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9009287671","repostId":"1104879344","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":371,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9009287836,"gmtCreate":1640694283970,"gmtModify":1676533534516,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":1,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9009287836","repostId":"1149386026","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":264,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9009004790,"gmtCreate":1640340646702,"gmtModify":1676533517293,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9009004790","repostId":"1112957001","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":562,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9009004508,"gmtCreate":1640340634510,"gmtModify":1676533517289,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like","listText":"Like","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9009004508","repostId":"1156159690","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":316,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":817777232,"gmtCreate":1630994224826,"gmtModify":1676530437534,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Cloudflare is going to $200. In spite of already trading at what I viewed to be a very rich valuation, the stock continues to rise rapidly. I fear that this is a situation commonly seen in today’s market: investors are buying stocks of high growth companies at any price. If the story is appealing, and the stock price keeps going up, it is easy to convince oneself to keep buying even if the valuation no longer makes sense. The current stock price is setting up new shareholders for a high likelihood of downside surprise.
\n
NET Stock Price
\n
Just 6 months ago, I initiated coverage on NET and pointed out a rich valuation that still allowed for 9% annual returns over the next decade. I also mentioned that investors might want to consider selling a covered call in order to improve the near term returns. One could make the argument that multiple expansion is reasonable when the stock trades cheaply, but I’m hard pressed to call NET cheap even prior to this 93% run up. NET is now trading at 63.6x forward sales:
\n
Seeking Alpha
\n
I note that Wall Street consensus estimates for 2021 appear to already reflect NET’s new guidance of $632 million in full-year revenues. Is NET attractively valued at 63.6x forward sales and a 33.7% expected 2022 growth rate? No, and let me explain why. NET is modeling 20% long term non-GAAP operating margins:
\n
2021 Q2 Presentation
\n
If we instead assume 20% GAAP net margins, then NET is trading at 185x “adjusted 2023 earnings” - equating to a price to earnings growth ratio (‘PEG’) of around 6.4x. That is in far excess of the 2x that is typically considered reasonable nowadays, and I emphasize that this is using today’s stock price.
\n
But perhaps one makes the argument that NET should continue 20% compounded annual growth for 5 years after 2023, and that it will achieve 40% net margins. In this case, NET is trading at 14.9x 2028 revenues and at a 37x “adjusted earnings multiple.” This earnings multiple looks reasonable based on 20% growth, but unfortunately this is assuming that NET stock does absolutely nothing over the next 7 years. I think I’ve made my point, but just to make sure that I have accounted for those who think my estimates are still too conservative, let’s assume 25% compounded annual growth for 5 years after 2023. NET would be trading at 12x 2028 revenues and at 30x adjusted earnings. One could make the argument that NET should trade at 50x adjusted earnings given the 25% growth rate - equating to 66% upside. But 66% upside over 7 years represents only 7.5% annual returns, and that is after using profitability estimates that are double of management’s own guidance and growth assumptions that are arguably far too aggressive. While I can appreciate the investment thesis of NET being a pure-play on the growth of the internet, the current stock price is pricing in significant downside potential. I wouldn’t be surprised if the stock experiences extreme volatility over the coming quarters as investors realize that growth will not accelerate as much as expected. I am not bearish the stock because the long term growth will likely allow for positive returns eventually, but my neutral rating should be interpreted as aggressively recommending to allocate capital elsewhere.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Why Cloudflare Stock Is Very Dangerous And Priced For Perfection
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nWhy Cloudflare Stock Is Very Dangerous And Priced For Perfection\n
\n
\n\n\n2021-09-07 13:44 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\nCloudflare is a pure-play on the growth of the internet.\nThe stock has jumped nearly 100% over the last 6 months alone.\nCloudflare continues to generate strong growth numbers with gains on ...
\nWeb Link\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"NET":"Cloudflare, Inc."},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4453559-why-cloudflare-stock-is-very-dangerous-and-priced-for-perfection","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1100864302","content_text":"Summary\n\nCloudflare is a pure-play on the growth of the internet.\nThe stock has jumped nearly 100% over the last 6 months alone.\nCloudflare continues to generate strong growth numbers with gains on the bottom line.\nI explain why the current stock price is full of danger even using very aggressive forward estimates.\n\nMichael Vi/iStock Editorial via Getty Images\nCloudflare (NET) has emerged as a very popular tech stock, as it truly is a play on the growth of the internet. I am not bearish the stock because the long term growth will likely allow for positive returns eventually, but my neutral rating should be interpreted as aggressively recommending to allocate capital elsewhere.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":292,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0}],"hots":[{"id":9941685967,"gmtCreate":1680191658460,"gmtModify":1680191661492,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Interest rate and inflation still needs to drop ","listText":"Interest rate and inflation still needs to drop ","text":"Interest rate and inflation still needs to drop","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":11,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9941685967","repostId":"1164007023","repostType":2,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":786,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9003619412,"gmtCreate":1640959231751,"gmtModify":1676533558569,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Like ","listText":"Like ","text":"Like","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":7,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9003619412","repostId":"1173493285","repostType":4,"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":772,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":256969941156136,"gmtCreate":1703770878899,"gmtModify":1703770882826,"author":{"id":"3575616038841569","authorId":"3575616038841569","name":"notlhw","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/eab27b706f5ecdd467cfa9022d07be00","crmLevel":9,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"3575616038841569","authorIdStr":"3575616038841569"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"Coca-Cola is not a growth stock ","listText":"Coca-Cola is not a growth stock ","text":"Coca-Cola is not a growth stock","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":6,"commentSize":1,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/256969941156136","repostId":"2394373944","repostType":2,"repost":{"id":"2394373944","kind":"highlight","pubTimestamp":1703769894,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/2394373944?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2023-12-28 21:24","market":"us","language":"en","title":"2 Top Growth Stocks to Buy for 2024","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=2394373944","media":"Motley Fool","summary":"They've got solid sales momentum, and profits are on the upswing, too.","content":"

Coca-Cola shares look attractive after trailing the market this past year.

Shopify's high valuation shouldn't scare investors away from this growth stock.

Growth stocks are back in vogue as Wall Street closes out a solid year. After rallying sharply last year, it has sold off hard in recent weeks. It officially entered correction territory this week, defined as a 10% decline from the recent high.

While stock market corrections can be tough to stomach, they often present great opportunities to buy high-quality stocks at lower prices. With that in mind, we asked some of our contributors for their top stocks to buy amid this year's market dip. Here's why they believe Nucor (NYSE:NUE), NextEra Energy (NYSE:NEE), and Nio (NYSE:NIO) look like great buys during the current sell-off.

A big sell-off would be a welcome opportunity

Reuben Gregg Brewer (Nucor): Steelmakers are highly cyclical, and right now, the companies are experiencing a strong operating environment. There are hints that this could change, but for now, record and near-record results are the norm for U.S. steel giant Nucor. It is, probably, the best-run mill in North America. There are so many positive things to say about Nucor that it's hard to know where to start.

It is the largest and most diversified player. It has a No. 1 or No. 2 position in 12 different industry sectors. Its investment-grade-rated balance sheet is one of the strongest in the domestic market. It has a long history of investing for the future, particularly by using downturns when weaker peers are often just trying to survive. That said, the one thing that always impresses me most is the way it treats its employees and shareholders.

NUE data by YCharts

Nucor has a profit-sharing arrangement that rewards its workforce well when the company is doing well. But, when times are tough, employees make less. The good times are so generous that it's a great deal, and at the same time, it gives Nucor a break on salary expenses when it needs the help. For investors, Nucor is a Dividend Aristocrat, having increased its dividend for 48 consecutive years. The stock is pretty expensive today, but a big dip related to broader market issues would be an opportunity to pick up a great company -- particularly if the yield rose to something in the 3% range.

This industry leader is much cheaper

Matt DiLallo (NextEra Energy): Shares of NextEra Energy have taken a beating this year. The utility stock has tumbled more than 20% in the first few weeks of 2022. That's a stunning drop for such a high-quality company with a history of delivering strong performance. It has now given up most of last year's gains when it generated a 23% total return, outperforming the utility sector. That's something it has done in each of the previous three-, five-, 10-, and 15-year periods.

While the overall market correction sparked the sell-off, the company's recent management transition also seemed to spook investors. Investors seemed overly concerned that longtime CEO Jim Robo plans to step down in March. They're overlooking the fact that he's handing over the reins to a 19-year company veteran who has worked alongside the value-creating CEO for decades.

Investors also completely overlooked NextEra's strong fourth-quarter results and increased financial guidance. It grew its adjusted earnings per share by 10.4% last year, above its 6% to 8% long-term target range. Meanwhile, it sees double-digit earnings growth again in 2022. It also expects to deliver 6% to 8% earnings growth in 2023 from this year's higher base while extending its outlook through 2025. The company's focus on investing in renewable energy is helping drive faster growth.

This year's sell-off now has NextEra energy trading at about 26 times its forward earnings. While that's a bit more expensive than the average utility, it's significantly cheaper than the more than 35 times forward earnings multiple it fetched before the sell-off.

That cheaper price, combined with NextEra Energy's improved outlook, makes it look like a great buy amid this year's stock-market correction.

A top bet to play the EV megatrend

Neha Chamaria (Nio): Given the rapid pace at which sales of electric vehicles (EV) are rising, I wouldn't shy away from putting my money on an EV stock during a market sell-off. Here's why they believe Nucor (NYSE:NUE), NextEra Energy (NYSE:NEE), and Nio (NYSE:NIO) look like great buys during the current sell-off.Image source: Getty Images.A big sell-off would be a welcome opportunityReuben Gregg Brewer (Nucor): Steelmakers are highly cyclical, and right now, the companies are experiencing a strong operating environment. That said, the one thing that always impresses me most is the way it treats its employees and shareholders.NUE data by YChartsNucor has a profit-sharing arrangement that rewards its workforce well when the company is doing well. This industry leader is much cheaperMatt DiLallo (NextEra Energy): Shares of NextEra Energy have taken a beating this year. They're overlooking the fact that he's handing over the reins to a 19-year company veteran who has worked alongside the value-creating CEO for decades.Investors also completely overlooked NextEra's strong fourth-quarter results and increased financial guidance. That cheaper price, combined with NextEra Energy's improved outlook, makes it look like a great buy amid this year's stock-market correction.A top bet to play the EV megatrendNeha Chamaria (Nio): Given the rapid pace at which sales of electric vehicles (EV) are rising, I wouldn't shy away from putting my money on an EV stock during a market sell-off. Right now, for example, I have my eyes on Nio -- shares of the China-based EV maker have shed almost 30% in just the past one month, as of this writing.Specifically, there are three reasons why I like Nio. First, Nio is a bet on the world's largest EV market, China, where demand for new-energy vehicles is rising at a torrid pace. Nio is also making an effort to establish a footprint outside China, which is my second reason to be bullish on the stock. By 2025, for example, Nio plans to expand its presence to 25 countries and regions by 2025, with immediate plans including entry into more European markets after having already launched its vehicles in Norway last year.Last but most important, Nio is gearing up to start deliveries of two models this year -- its flagship sedan ET7 and the much-awaited midsize sedan ET5. There's much more going at Nio, including a potential secondary listing in the Hong Kong stock exchange (or perhaps even Singapore, as rumors are floating right now). EVs are changing the dynamics of the auto industry, so it makes sense for an investor to own some EV stocks. another exciting year for investors.
\n
Diversity is the name of the game, and these long-term picks could provide market-beating returns for years to come.
\n
Happy New Year, everyone!
\n
\n
vzphotos/iStock Editorial via Getty Images
\n
What Are The Best Long-Term Stocks For 2022?
\n
A new year will bring new challenges and opportunities for investors. Inflation, interest rates, bubbles, COVID-19 variants, the FTC, new technologies, transformative companies, record buybacks, high yields, and other variables promise to make this an exciting time. With this in mind, diversity is an integral part of a well-rounded portfolio for long-term investors. For this reason, I have chosen three picks from different baskets and include a rock-solid REIT pick, VICI Properties (VICI), a Big Tech pick, Alphabet (GOOG/GOOGL), and a dividend stalwart selection, AbbVie (ABBV).
\n
VICI Properties
\n
VICI is a real estate investment trust (REIT) with properties dedicated to gaming and entertainment. It has properties nationwide, including on the Las Vegas Strip. VICI was initially formed as a spinoff of Caesars Entertainment (CZR) in 2017. More than 30% of its current exposure is to the Las Vegas Strip, and this will increase with the acquisition of MGM Growth Properties (MGP).
\n
Banks in the U.S. are required to undergo stress tests if they meet specific requirements. These tests are designed to ensure that they can function in the case of a financial calamity. VICI went through its own ultimate stress test in the Spring of 2020 and passed with flying colors. The entire Las Vegas Strip was shut for a period, and properties around the country were also profoundly affected. VICI's share price cratered during this time.
\n
Data by YCharts
\n
The company's revenue, however, actually went up. The adjusted funds from operations also increased in 2020.
\n
Data by YCharts
\n
Looking at the chart above, one would never suspect a calamity in gaming was going on during this time. VICI actually increased the dividend in Q2 2020.
\n
VICI is currently yielding a very safe 5%. The dividend has just been raised in Q3 2021 from $0.33 quarterly per share to $0.36. VICI has raised the dividend each year since its inception, and this should continue. VICI reports that 97% of its long-term rental agreements include escalators tied to inflation. When the consumer price index (CPI) rises, so do the rents. In this way, VICI is a 5% yielding inflation hedge with a rising dividend and accretive acquisition closing soon. In short, an excellent pick for long-term investors.
\n
Google
\n
Google is growing revenues prolifically and across multiple segments. The company had a brilliant 2021, and this momentum should carry on into 2022.
\n
Chart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha
\n
As shown, revenue over the trailing twelve months (TTMs) has reached $239 billion, easily surpassing fiscal 2020 revenue of $183 billion. Growth slowed a bit in 2020 as advertisers cut back on spending; however, this came roaring back in 2021.
\n
In addition, margins are increasing.
\n
Chart created by author with data from Seeking Alpha
\n
Over the TTMs, Google has posted an EBITDA margin of 36%. This is excellent profitability. Much of this can be attributed to increased revenue for cloud services and YouTube. These segments have substantial expansion potential and should serve long-term investors well. News of the FTC cracking down on AWS could be welcome news to Google shareholders.
\n
Google also has some of the best valuation metrics of the Big Tech giants, as shown below.
\n
Data by YCharts
\n
AbbVie
\n
AbbVie has been an excellent dividend growth stock for many years, and this is likely to continue. Because of the concerns over the Humira franchise patent cliffs, and other potential legislation regarding drug prices, AbbVie often trades at a discount. Investors who watch for dips can be rewarded handsomely. I discussed this in further detail in this previous article.
\n
Biosimilars for Humira are coming to U.S. markets in 2023. This will likely cut the revenues AbbVie receives from Humira in half in the first year, judging by the results of introducing biosimilars in Europe. AbbVie has made several moves to get ahead of this in recent periods, including developing new drugs, expanding treatment options for existing drugs, and expanding the product line through acquisition. Examples include Rinvoq and the Allergan acquisition. As of Q1 2020, Humira made up over 54% of all revenue for AbbVie. This was down to 36% by Q2 2021, while total revenue rose considerably.
\n
AbbVie's dividend is safe, with a payout ratio below 50%. It has also been raised for eight consecutive years. The five-year dividend growth rate is near 18%. This makes AbbVie an excellent pick for long-term dividend growth investors.
\n
Bottom Line
\n
VICI, Google, and AbbVie are stellar companies with extremely positive long-term potential. Each provides an investor's portfolio with different exposure and different potential. VICI is a tested gaming giant with a rising dividend and inflation protection. Google is as solid as they come with much upside and more limited risk than some in Big Tech due to the lower valuation. AbbVie is a dividend-producing machine where investors can snag a higher yield based on moderate risks. The three combined can be part of the bedrock of a well-rounded investment portfolio.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
3 Best Long-Term Stocks For Investors In 2022
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n3 Best Long-Term Stocks For Investors In 2022\n
\n
\n\n\n2021-12-28 20:23 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
Summary\n\n2022 promises to be another exciting year for investors.\nDiversity is the name of the game, and these long-term picks could provide market-beating returns for years to come.\nHappy New Year, ...
\nWeb Link\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"GOOGL":"谷歌A","VICI":"Vici Properties","ABBV":"艾伯维公司","GOOG":"谷歌"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4476923-3-best-long-term-stocks-for-investors-in-2022","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1149386026","content_text":"Summary\n\n2022 promises to be another exciting year for investors.\nDiversity is the name of the game, and these long-term picks could provide market-beating returns for years to come.\nHappy New Year, everyone!\n\nvzphotos/iStock Editorial via Getty Images\nWhat Are The Best Long-Term Stocks For 2022?\nA new year will bring new challenges and opportunities for investors.
