Wall Street analysts, however, seemed far","content":"

TeslaĀ stock tumbled Thursday, a day after reporting better-than-expected fourth-quarter earningsĀ āĀ a sign that the numbers still managed to disappoint investors. Wall Street analysts, however, seemed far from disappointed, as a handful of raised their price targets for Tesla stock.

Rising target prices, however, might not be good enough to boost shares in the short run.

Tesla stockĀ dived over 11% on ThursdayĀ at roughly $829 a share. TheĀ S&P 500Ā is off about 0.5%. TheĀ Dow Jones Industrial AverageĀ has fallen 0.02%. TheĀ Nasdaq CompositeĀ is down 1.4%.

Itās a severe reaction to the company reporting $2.54 in per-share earnings from $17.7 billion in sales for the fourth quarter. Wall Street was looking for $2.36 a share from $17.1 billion in sales. Itās the companyās fourth consecutive earnings ābeat.ā

Piper Sandler analyst Alexander Potter maintained his Buy rating on shares and $1,300 price target despite calling the quarter not ācompletely flawless.ā Supply-chain problems persist, adding cost, and new product rollouts, such as Cybertruck, are happing more slowly than some expect.

Baird analyst Ben Kallo also noted supply chain headwinds in his Thursday report following earnings, but was encouraged by managementās goal to grow volumes more than 50% in 2022. That implies 2022 deliveries of 1.4 million units. Kallo also maintained his Buy rating and raised an older price target to $1,108 from $888.

Kallo had his $888 target since October. Not all analysts change estimates and targets at the same rate.

Wells Fargo analyst Colin Langan also raised his Tesla price target to $910 from $860 a share. He kept his Hold rating on Tesla stock. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Wednesday heās confident Tesla will have truly self-driving cars by the end of 2022. Langan is skeptical. He still increased his price target because his 2022 earnings estimates went up following the quarter. Langan sees Tesla earnings $7.85 a share in 2022, up from $6.90 a share.

Thatās a relatively low estimate. Overall, Wall Street expects Tesla to earn $10 a share in 2022. That estimate is up from about $8.40 a share three months ago. Rising estimates is probably the biggest factor in rising target prices. The average analyst target price for Tesla stock has risen to $967 a share from $758 a share over the past three months.

The average analyst target price is up about $13 a share after analysts digested Wednesdayās fourth-quarter earnings. The 2022 consensus earnings estimate is up about 25 cents a share in response to earnings.

Interestingly, the most bullish analysts, including Potter, donāt seem to be increasing target prices post earnings. The more bearish analysts, such as Langan, are the ones making larger adjustments.

New Street Research analyst Pierre Ferragu is a Tesla bull. He maintained his Buy rating and $1,580 price target for the stock calling the quarter a ācomfortableā beat. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, another bull, also maintained his Buy rating and $1,400 price target after the quarter. He called the quarter āstellar.ā

Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas didnāt appear to go as far as stellar, but still heaped praise on the company in his Wednesday report following earnings. He called Tesla an āEV cash machine ā¦with just two cars and two plants.ā in a Wednesday report following earnings.

The cars are the Model 3 and Model Y. Tesla makes Model S and X vehicles, but those are lower volume models. Tesla makes cars in Fremont, California and Shanghai, but is starting up two new plants in Austin, Texas and Germany.

āNothing truly narrative changing for Tesla bullsā from the quarter added Jonas. He left his $8.84 per share 2022 earnings estimate unchanged as well as his $1,300 price target. Jonas rates Tesla stock Buy.

Overall, about 46% of analysts covering Tesla stock rate share Buy. The average Buy rating ratio for stocks in the S&P is about 58%. Wall Street analysts, however, seemed far from disappointed, as a handful of raised their price targets for Tesla stock.Rising target prices, however, might not be good enough to boost shares in the short run.Tesla stockĀ dived over 11% on ThursdayĀ at roughly $829 a share. TheĀ S&P 500Ā is off about 0.5%. TheĀ Dow Jones Industrial AverageĀ has fallen 0.02%. TheĀ Nasdaq CompositeĀ is down 1.4%.Itās a severe reaction to the company reporting $2.54 in per-share earnings from $17.7 billion in sales for the fourth quarter. Wall Street was looking for $2.36 a share from $17.1 billion in sales. Itās the companyās fourth consecutive earnings ābeat.āPiper Sandler analyst Alexander Potter maintained his Buy rating on shares and $1,300 price target despite calling the quarter not ācompletely flawless.ā Supply-chain problems persist, adding cost, and new product rollouts, such as Cybertruck, are happing more slowly than some expect.Baird analyst Ben Kallo also noted supply chain headwinds in his Thursday report following earnings, but was encouraged by managementās goal to grow volumes more than 50% in 2022. That implies 2022 deliveries of 1.4 million units. Kallo also maintained his Buy rating and raised an older price target to $1,108 from $888.Kallo had his $888 target since October. Not all analysts change estimates and targets at the same rate.Wells Fargo analyst Colin Langan also raised his Tesla price target to $910 from $860 a share. He kept his Hold rating on Tesla stock. Tesla CEO Elon Musk said Wednesday heās confident Tesla will have truly self-driving cars by the end of 2022. Langan is skeptical. He still increased his price target because his 2022 earnings estimates went up following the quarter. Langan sees Tesla earnings $7.85 a share in 2022, up from $6.90 a share.Thatās a relatively low estimate. The 2022 consensus earnings estimate is up about 25 cents a share in response to earnings.Interestingly, the most bullish analysts, including Potter, donāt seem to be increasing target prices post earnings. The more bearish analysts, such as Langan, are the ones making larger adjustments.New Street Research analyst Pierre Ferragu is a Tesla bull. He maintained his Buy rating and $1,580 price target for the stock calling the quarter a ācomfortableā beat. Wedbush analyst Dan Ives, another bull, also maintained his Buy rating and $1,400 price target after the quarter. He called the quarter āstellar.āMorgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas didnāt appear to go as far as stellar, but still heaped praise on the company in his Wednesday report following earnings. He called Tesla an āEV cash machine ā¦with just two cars and two plants.ā in a Wednesday report following earnings. The cars are the Model 3 and Model Y. Tesla makes Model S and X vehicles, but those are lower volume models. Tesla makes cars in Fremont, California and Shanghai, but is starting up two new plants in Austin, Texas and Germany.āNothing truly narrative changing for Tesla bullsā from the quarter added Jonas. He left his $8.84 per share 2022 earnings estimate unchanged as well as his $1,300 price target. Jonas rates Tesla stock Buy.Overall, about 46% of analysts covering Tesla stock rate share Buy. The average Buy rating ratio for stocks in the S&P is about 58%. No one upgraded or downgraded Tesla stock following earnings, according to Bloomberg data.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":498,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9004375370,"gmtCreate":1642518459892,"gmtModify":1676533718176,"author":{"id":"4093249724822050","authorId":"4093249724822050","name":"GLSJ","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4093249724822050","authorIdStr":"4093249724822050"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Vinco Ventures, Inc.(BBIG)$why is there a suspension?","listText":"$Vinco Ventures, Inc.(BBIG)$why is there a suspension?","text":"$Vinco Ventures, Inc.(BBIG)$why is there a suspension?","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":3,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9004375370","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":2087,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[{"author":{"id":"3577436669837801","authorId":"3577436669837801","name":"Malahotpot","avatar":"https://static.tigerbbs.com/5805d5611b40ab77e6c91691af793bcb","crmLevel":3,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"idStr":"3577436669837801","authorIdStr":"3577436669837801"},"content":"When prIce goes up or down too fast, there will be corcuit breaker","text":"When prIce goes up or down too fast, there will be corcuit breaker","html":"When prIce goes up or down too fast, there will be corcuit breaker"}],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9002578349,"gmtCreate":1642052631917,"gmtModify":1676533676371,"author":{"id":"4093249724822050","authorId":"4093249724822050","name":"GLSJ","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4093249724822050","authorIdStr":"4093249724822050"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"[Like] ","listText":"[Like] ","text":"[Like]","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":0,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9002578349","repostId":"1159794439","repostType":4,"repost":{"id":"1159794439","kind":"news","pubTimestamp":1642042141,"share":"https://ttm.financial/m/news/1159794439?lang=&edition=fundamental","pubTime":"2022-01-13 10:49","market":"us","language":"en","title":"2 Big Dividends You Can't Afford To Overlook","url":"https://stock-news.laohu8.com/highlight/detail?id=1159794439","media":"Seeking Alpha","summary":"SummaryAs humans, we are naturally drawn to the flashy and exciting. We tend to think what has worked","content":"

Summary

As humans, we are naturally drawn to the flashy and exciting.

We tend to think what has worked recently is all we need.

As income investors, we cannot afford to have a myoptic view.

Have you ever overlooked anything in your life? Have you ever been the one who has been repeatedly overlooked?

I enjoy watching competition shows at times simply to watch our human nature at work. Recency bias plays a big part. Those who have performed most strongly "lately" in the show get picked first in team situations. While the "rocky steady" performers are often overlooked or picked near the end. Why? Because they're not flashy or getting all the extra attention. They perform well, all the time, so they often go unnoticed.

Often other biases can be at play, we like to pick our friends over our enemies, or we will pick more attractive people first due to human nature. I enjoy seeing this psychology at work.

When it comes to the market, many run to the sexy and attractive growth names. We all use Facebook to catch up with friends, oh it's got to be one of our top picks for our portfolio. Amazon? Got that prime membership right? Step right up into my portfolio!

Yet, I suggest we stop getting dazzled by recent performance or big-name appeal and look into those names that can meet our primary goal. For many of my faithful readers and like-minded investors, that's income. Meta Platforms (FB) and Amazon (AMZN) don't pay a dime in dividends.

Furthermore, looking at 2021 returns, the two picks we're discussing today actually strongly outperformed both of the above-mentioned.

It's time to look at the strong and steady and not the new and flashy for a moment. Don't overlook how natural gas gets from point A to B or how much rent is going up. You don't need retirement income "some" years, you need it every month. Steady and reliable isn't always the most popular, but it will fill your portfolio with cash!

Let's dive in!

Pick #1: ATAX - Yield 6.7%

Residential rents leaped up 7% in November alone. Apartments are a sector we want to be exposed to for 2022, andĀ America First Multifamily(ATAX) is a unique opportunity often overlooked by the market.

ATAX invests in multi-family apartments in two ways. Their largest investments are "mortgage revenue bonds" or MRBs. These are bonds issued by state-level housing agencies and secured by apartment properties. These mortgages are available to apartments that provide a section of affordable housing.

This business is fairly straightforward. ATAX buys the bonds and then collects principal and interest payments. As an additional benefit, the interest is Federal tax-exempt, which is passed along to investors through the partnership structure. So when you collect your distribution, the portion that is attributed to interest from MRBs is Federal tax-exempt.

In addition to MRBs, ATAX also invests in the construction of apartment properties. They call this their "Vantage" investments. ATAX invests through a joint venture. They provide the money while their partner builds new apartments. Once construction is complete, the apartments are leased up and then sold for a profit.

What happens when you have a new apartment building and rents climb rapidly? The value of that building goes up. 2022 is going to be huge for ATAX with six properties ready to be marketed for sale and another six that will be starting construction soon.

In 2021, ATAX paid out a $0.08 special dividend at year-end that was driven by gains in sales of their Vantage properties. In 2022, we can expect gains from their Vantage properties to be even higher!

Note: ATAX is a partnership that issues a K-1.

Pick #2: AM - Yield 9.4%

Antero Midstream Corporation(AM) is an MLP that focuses on natural gas and natural gas liquids. AM was created to serve the midstream needs of Antero Resources (AR). AM transports both NG and NGLs for AR.

NG prices have come down in the U.S. due to weather forecasts for mild weather. Yet even in the high $3s, are still high relative to prices we have seen over the past decade, even though it is a relatively mild winter so far.

Overseas, it is another story entirely. Europe is in a full-fledged energy crisis. Here is a comparison of U.S. and E.U. gas prices in oil barrel equivalents:AR is the largest producer exporter of NGLs in the U.S. So the substantially higher prices for NGLs overseas is a positive for them.

It is a great time to be an NG/NGL producer, and AR is taking advantage of this opportunity to expand and improve its balance sheet. AR expects that it will be leveraged at only 1.0x EBITDA by the end of 2022.

AM is positioned to benefit as AR strengthens its balance sheet making it a higher-quality customer and as AR expands, AM will be there to grow along with it.

AM has improved its balance sheet and has enough free cash flow to fully fund its capital expenditures and its dividend. AM is growing without taking on any new debt or issuing new equity!

Natural gas is in high demand, and shortages overseas provide an opportunity for the U.S. to expand its role as an exporter. Add in additional tailwinds from inflation that will keep commodity prices higher, and you have a recipe for great growth for AR and AM.

AM is a corporation rather than a limited partnership and issues a 1099, no K-1 to worry about, unlike many midstream companies!

Conclusion

In 2022, it's time we stop looking with biased eyes and consider what is going on around the world. These two companies offer us the ability to snag high yields and strong total returns - besting both Amazon and Meta Platforms this past year with more success to come.

When it comes to locking in a solid retirement, we need to be forward-thinking but real-world grounded. Lots of companies and CEOs love to sell a vision for the future, hoping to spread their dreams to the minds of others, who will open their wallets to buy their company's shares. CEOs are the ultimate salesperson for the firm they oversee and some are better at it than others.

I'm not saying never invest in a company you believe in; it can be very rewarding. Early investors in AMZN and FB made a lot. What I am saying is be sure to keep a clear head and put your retirement income needs ahead of anything else. Swing for a few homeĀ runs, but make sure you have a team filling your portfolio with dividends. In retirement, it is the steady performers paying us income that can meet our needs in a fashion no one else can.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
2 Big Dividends You Can't Afford To Overlook
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\n2 Big Dividends You Can't Afford To Overlook\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-01-13 10:49 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
SummaryAs humans, we are naturally drawn to the flashy and exciting. We tend to think what has worked recently is all we need.As income investors, we cannot afford to have a myoptic view.Have you ever ...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"AM":"Antero Midstream Corporation"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4478931-2-big-dividends-you-cant-afford-to-overlook","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1159794439","content_text":"SummaryAs humans, we are naturally drawn to the flashy and exciting. We tend to think what has worked recently is all we need.As income investors, we cannot afford to have a myoptic view.Have you ever overlooked anything in your life? Add in additional tailwinds from inflation that will keep commodity prices higher, and you have a recipe for great growth for AR and AM.AM is a corporation rather than a limited partnership and issues a 1099, no K-1 to worry about, unlike many midstream companies!ConclusionIn 2022, it's time we stop looking with biased eyes and consider what is going on around the world. CEOs are the ultimate salesperson for the firm they oversee and some are better at it than others.I'm not saying never invest in a company you believe in; it can be very rewarding. Early investors in AMZN and FB made a lot. What I am saying is be sure to keep a clear head and put your retirement income needs ahead of anything else. Swing for a few homeĀ runs, but make sure you have a team filling your portfolio with dividends. In retirement, it is the steady performers paying us income that can meet our needs in a fashion no one else can.","news_type":1},"isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":410,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9008335421,"gmtCreate":1641357287017,"gmtModify":1676533605632,"author":{"id":"4093249724822050","authorId":"4093249724822050","name":"GLSJ","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4093249724822050","authorIdStr":"4093249724822050"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Skillz Inc(SKLZ)$what to do with u","listText":"$Skillz Inc(SKLZ)$what to do with u","text":"$Skillz Inc(SKLZ)$what to do with u","images":[],"top":1,"highlighted":1,"essential":1,"paper":1,"likeSize":2,"commentSize":0,"repostSize":0,"link":"https://ttm.financial/post/9008335421","isVote":1,"tweetType":1,"viewCount":1378,"authorTweetTopStatus":1,"verified":2,"comments":[],"imageCount":0,"langContent":"EN","totalScore":0},{"id":9008335314,"gmtCreate":1641357058232,"gmtModify":1676533605608,"author":{"id":"4093249724822050","authorId":"4093249724822050","name":"GLSJ","avatar":"https://static.laohu8.com/default-avatar.jpg","crmLevel":2,"crmLevelSwitch":0,"followedFlag":false,"idStr":"4093249724822050","authorIdStr":"4093249724822050"},"themes":[],"htmlText":"$Skillz Inc(SKLZ)$what to do with u? The","content":"

Summary

Company files for aĀ 3 for 1 stock split at the annual meeting.

Investors looking for a major rally may be disappointed.

This is a very different Tesla than we saw in 2020.

After the bell on Friday, electric vehicle maker Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) filed its preliminary proxy statement ahead of this year's annual meeting. As part of the filing, Tesla is looking to increase the number ofĀ authorized shares of common stockĀ in an effort to execute a 3 for 1 stock split. With the stock having soared roughly two years ago around a previous stock split, investors may be hoping for large gains again. However, the situation is a lot different this time around.

Perhaps the most important item to look at here is market cap. When Tesla announced the 5 for 1 splitĀ back in August 2020, the closing market cap that day was about $256 billion. As of last Friday's close, the company was worth about $722 billion and that doesn't include the nearly 2% rally seen in the after-hours session. A market cap that's nearly three times what it was for the previous split obviously makes it harder for the stock to rally, because a given level of buying (say $1 billion) doesn't go as far this time around.

Also, the stock's float as a percentage of outstanding shares is about three percentage points higher this year than it was back in the summer of 2020. That means that there's a little more overall supply, and it's mostly due to Elon Musk's share sales from last year and earlier this year. Along the same lines, short interest in Tesla has dropped considerably over the last two years as seen in the chart below.

Tesla Short Interest (NASDAQ)

The number of shares short is down almost 54% since Tesla announced its stock split back in 2020. At the same time, the number of outstanding shares is up more than 105 million (on a split-adjusted basis), or 11.2%, while the float is up more than 15% since then. As a result, short interest as a percentage of the float has gone from more than 8% at the end of July 2020 to just 3.2% now. This significantly reduces the chances of a short squeeze happening. Back then, those betting against the stock might have been caught off guard a bit by the 2020 split, thus needing to cover which helped a little bit in the large rally.

Some investors may also be looking at the entire rally in 2020 and be attributing it to the split. As the chart below shows, Tesla shares did move nicely higher on the split news, but that wasn't the most important news item of the year. The major rally came later in 2020after Tesla gained inclusionĀ to the S&P 500 Index, which sparked a tremendous amount of buying. As it became more clear throughout the year that Tesla was about to meet the criteria to enter the index, part of the buying that occurred around the split may have been lumped in with S&P inclusion speculation. There is no major catalyst like that this time around.

Tesla 2020 Chart (Yahoo! Finance)

Another major item to look at is where Tesla was as a company back then. The previous stock split was announced just a few weeks after management reported a 5% year over year revenue decline for its Q2 period. With the Fremont factory shut down for a good portion of the quarter and Shanghai in its early Model 3 ramp, Tesla's results were significantly pressured. While a new round of Covid shutdowns will hurt this year's Q2, I don't think even the most bearish person out there thinks we'll see anywhere close to a 5% year over year revenue decline. Back then, people were worried about businesses just surviving, and Tesla ended up raising $10 billion in capital later that year.

Another major reason this time is much different is in central bank and fiscal policy. Back in 2020, the Fed was expanding its balance sheet by trillions of dollars and governments were handing out stimulus checks to bolster economies. Today, central banks are now raising rates, like the Fed is expected to do again this week, with quantitative tightening about to start bringing the Fed's balance sheet down by hundreds of billions of dollars this year. Speculative stocks were skyrocketing back then, and you had firms like Ark Invest with massive inflows increasing their Tesla holdings by the day. Cathie Wood's firm has lost a significant amount of its net assets since then and its Tesla position has shrunk considerably as seen in the chart below partially due to redemptions but mostly because of allocation selling.

Ark Invest Active ETF Tesla Holdings (Ark Invest)

The final item is one that could be a bit of a wildcard this time around. Elon Musk is trying to acquire Twitter (TWTR), although the pending deal is in question due to how many bots are actually on the social media site. Should Twitter's board try to force Elon to pay the agreed upon $54.20 price and some of Elon's backers drop out, he might need to sell millions more of his Tesla shares to finance the acquisition. This issue has provided a bit of an overhang on the EV maker in recent months, and we could be getting much closer to some real fireworks surrounding this major purchase as we get closer to the stock split.

Tesla is proposing an increase in its authorized share count, so the stock can undergo a 3 for 1 split, but this isn't the same situation as 2020. The EV maker has a much larger market cap this time around, combined with much lower short interest, and investors don't have the major S&P 500 inclusion catalyst to help out. The business is also in a much better place than the summer of 2020 when it was reporting revenue declines and in need of a capital infusion. Finally, the overall market is in a completely different spot, going from a time of extremely easy money policy to one where the Fed is tightening things up quickly in an effort to combat high inflation. While Tesla shares might respond positively if a split does occur later this year, investors looking for significant returns again due to this singular catalyst will likely be disappointed.

","collect":0,"html":"\n
\n
\n\n\n\n
Tesla: This Split Is Different
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n
\nTesla: This Split Is Different\n
\n\n
\n\n\n2022-06-14 23:01 GMT+8 Seeking Alpha\n\n\n
\n\n
\n
\n
\n
SummaryCompany files for aĀ 3 for 1 stock split at the annual meeting.Investors looking for a major rally may be disappointed. This is a very different Tesla than we saw in 2020.After the bell on Friday...
\n\nWeb Link\n\n
\n\n\n
\n
\n
\n
\n","type":0,"thumbnail":"","relate_stocks":{"TSLA":"ē¹ęÆę"},"source_url":"https://seekingalpha.com/article/4518154-tesla-tsla-split-is-different","is_english":true,"share_image_url":"https://static.laohu8.com/e9f99090a1c2ed51c021029395664489","article_id":"1118010961","content_text":"SummaryCompany files for aĀ 3 for 1 stock split at the annual meeting.Investors looking for a major rally may be disappointed. This is a very different Tesla than we saw in 2020.After the bell on Friday, electric vehicle maker Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) filed its preliminary proxy statement ahead of this year's annual meeting.
