In Singapore, one of the world’s most expensive countries, can you survive for 24 hours with just 10 SGD?

Here’s a challenge shared by a netizen on how to make the most of 10 SGD:

🍞 8:00 AM | Kaya Warrior Strikes: 2 SGD
For 2 SGD, two slices of crispy kaya toast are secured. The secret? Bring your own thermos to fill with free hot water.

🥬 12:00 PM | Hawker Center Economics in Action: 3SGD
At the mixed rice stall in the hawker center, two vegetables and rice for 3 SGD. Focus on high-water-content ingredients like winter melon and cabbage, and leverage free soup to fill up.

📚 3:00 PM | Air Conditioning Capitalization: 0 SGD
Head to the National Library to enjoy the "three free essentials": air conditioning, WiFi, and charging outlets.

🍜 7:00 PM | Noodle Showdown: 3.5 SGD vs. 5 SGD
Fish ball noodles (3.5 SGD) and economic fried rice noodles (5 SGD) engage in a price battle. The solution is to employ a dynamic balance strategy—eat noodles on odd days and rice noodles on even days, using time to save money and meet the budget.

💰 Hardcore Player Bonus
An extreme saver shares their survival plan: a 3.5 SGD large bread plus free water dispenser = a 24-hour survival meal. But the opposing view is just as loud: "Going out in Singapore without 50 SGD is like going into battle without armor!"

🌟🌟🌟Even though Singapore is one of the most expensive cities in South East Asia, it is definitely possible to survive with just SGD 10 a day for food.  It is a good exercise in being mindful on how we spend our money and also makes us appreciate how lucky we are to live in Singapore.

The best way to survive on just SGD 10 is to cook at home .  I believe in having a Balanced Diet of Protein, Carbohydrates and Fibre.

For breakfast I would have a boiled egg and toast  followed by a serve of banana and milk.  I would cook Indomie with some fishballs with some cabbage and tofu.  For dinner I would have some home cooked spaghetti Bolognese with some minced beef and tomato based sauce plus a small serve of iceberg lettuce.  I will complete the meal with an apple for dessert.

Cooking at home is more nutritious and save lots of money.  On a working week day , I sometimes pack my left over home cooked meals for work .  I drink lots of water throughout the day which is my favourite way of hydration.

Surviving with just SGD 10 a day is not a difficult task if we want to do so with some advanced meal planning and prudent shopping.

💸🇸🇬🙏🌴🔥 10 Bucks, One Kiwi, and a Singapore Survival Sia! 🔥🌴🚀

    $Singapore Airlines Ltd.(SINGF)$ $FREELANCER LTD(FLN.AU)$

If I landed in dazzling Singapore with a measly 10 SGD, practically pocket lint in this ex lah pricey paradise, I’d unleash my inner Kiwi cheapskate and turn it into a bloody triumph, sia! 🌴

First, pre-departure 🛫🇸🇬, I’d slide into Space Rocket or koolgal’s DMs with a suave, “How about a charming Kiwi crashing your pad lah, armed with a sheep-shaped trinket from NZ, eh?” 🌟 No point splashing out on a hotel when I’ve got charisma, a souvenir, and a bit of cheek sia.

With crash space sorted, I’d kick off at 8:00 AM, snagging kaya toast for 2 SGD, rocking up with my thermos like a thrift-store James Bond, sipping free hot water with a sly grin, so shiok lah. 🍞☕

By noon, I’d hit the hawker centre, masterminding a 3 SGD veggie-rice steal, cabbage, winter melon, you watery legends, while smashing free soup like it’s a gourmet elixir, damn chio lah. 🥬🍲

At 3:00 PM, I’d saunter into the National Library, soaking up free AC, WiFi, juice for my phone, maybe winking at a book to look a bit flash, siao lah, so good! 📚❄️

Come 6:00 PM, it’s fish ball noodle time for 3.5 SGD, odd days, odd vibes, leaving me 1.5 SGD to strut into tomorrow like a boss lah. 🍜💸

Survive 24 hours? Mate, I’d ace it sia, Singapore would be begging for an encore, no worries lah, so shiok! 🇸🇬

In real life, go easy on the luncheon meat and canned stewed pork ya. Loads of harmful nitrates and nitrites.

$10 a day is possible - just take a heavier brunch (which covers both breakfast and lunch) and dinner either prepared at home or from the friendly neighbourhood coffee shop downstairs☺️❤️👍 @Tiger_SG @Cctan
