SoFi stock is gaining momentum as Trump’s tax plan fuels optimism for its student loan business. With bullish growth targets and crypto expansion ahead, investors are positioning for upside. A popular strategy: selling $21 strike puts for a $198 premium—either earning income or buying the stock at a discount.
Trump Tax Plan Sparks Market Optimism For SoFi Stock
SoFi Investors responded to the latest policy changes proposed by US president Donald Trump. Trump's tax bill would lower the cap on how much graduate students can borrow from the federal government, creating a funding gap for higher education. That gap in funding could create an opening for private loan providers, and SoFi, long known for its student loan and refinancing business, is well-positioned to benefit, as per the report.
SoFi is going to post its second-quarter results on July 29, and investor expectations are already high. The market is expecting the momentum to continue as the company reported strong first-quarter numbers, with revenue increased by 20% and earnings rising 200% year-over-year, according to the report.
Wall Street analysts projected that the company will report earnings of $0.06 per share, increasing 500% from the year-ago quarter. But, revenues are projected to decline by about 7% from the year-ago quarter to $801.8 million, as per the data from the TipRanks Forecast page.
Growth Guidance and Crypto Revival Fuel SoFi Stock Momentum
Last month, SoFi's CFO Chris Lapointe reaffirmed the company's financial targets at the William Blair Growth Stock Conference, projecting adjusted net revenue to exceed $3 billion by 2025 and annual growth above 25% through 2026. The bullish targets appeared to help add to the momentum in the fintech stock.
SoFi also announced a new push into digital assets late last month. SoFi confirmed plans to introduce cryptocurrency trading later this year, including in assets like Bitcoin and Ethereum. The company said it also plans to offer new crypto-backed loans and cross-border payment tools and broaden its offerings to stablecoins. CEO Anthony Noto also emphasized that blockchain technology would be integrated across SoFi's entire suite of services.
SoFi is adding new private-market funds offering exposure to startups like OpenAI and SpaceX. They also have investment minimums as low as $10, well below what is required by some of its other private-market funds, such as the $25,000 minimum for SoFi’s Cosmos Fund, which offers exposure to SpaceX as well.
